X166 Liftgate will not open (Please Read)
My back hatch will not open at all. (2014 GL450)
The wife put something in the back and hit the button. The hatch lowered and "caught", but it did not pull tight and fully close.
So now it is not fully closed and it will not open at all and will not close fully. When you put it in reverse, it says the hatch is open and turns off the back up camera.
Everything thing I have seen shows me how to fix potential issues but I can not find anywhere that shows me how to open it "emergency" style.
The result is the same whether I use the key fob, driver's side door, or rear handle. You can hear the the motor working, the lift gate moves a little, and that is it!
Can you fully open and fully close the liftgate manually? You didn’t comment on the door button, key fob and two (interior and exterior) rear liftgate buttons. Please give a statement on all four of these, in addition to the manual test.

I took it back to the place where I bought it. The guy looks at it and it works perfectly. WTH?!?
I tried it a few times and it started not closing fully to ultimately not opening at all again.
At this point I have an appointment at the MB dealer on Monday morning.

The actuator has two electric motors in my case, one had stopped working. This caused the actuator to catch, but not fully lock. It would not unock either. The only way to release the lock was with the emergency release from the inside, then I'd have to use the handle on the liftgate to open it.
I have another thread covering the internals of the actuator in some detail.
