M278 Injector Replacement

Does anyone mind sharing the procedure for replacing injector on M278? I see a detailed thread on the x166 forum however it’s for the GL350 Diesel engine.

I see an injector tool is needed but still cheaper than the $1300 quote I received for replacement...

Any pointers are appreciated.

Is it new injector or used one? If used one you will have to get a seal kit.
the rest is straight forward. Check out Youtube videos.

Probably new since it’s just one and and the new ones aren’t too expensive on RockAuto. Saw a M276 video today of injector replacement think I can replicate fairly easily given block design.

Do you think injector puller tool is necessary?

Update on this: I had a nearby shop replace my injector and I used the
iCarsoft MB V3.0 iCarsoft MB V3.0
to code the injector IMA codes. At first there was a software issue with the scan tool only showing cylinders 1-6, however iCarsoft support sent me new software and that resolved the issue. Drove around for a few days with old IMA code and car was fine. Very economical scan tool for these rigs, and you can use non-European focused (but still competent) shops to do repairs at fraction of cost. Euro shop estimated 1300 for injector replacement. I ended up purchasing the injector from rockauto for +/-150 and shop charged +/-350 for labor.

Resolved (for now) P1CEF85 code but didn't resolve my warm engine idle which can be a bit shaky, however I am on original engine mounts @ 125k. Car also lurches/bucks from idle sometimes which is a bit unpleasant, thought injector may resolve by still does it.

I'm going to crawl under and inspect oxygen sensor connections for connection strength and oil, which may have an effect on some of the above. Intermittent P013e code (P013E O2 Sensor Delayed Response - Rich to Lean (Bank 1 Sensor 2), and did have P014a code (P014A O2 Sensor Delayed Response - Rich to Lean (Bank 2 Sensor 2), after replacing injector but I think that was still while the engine was adapting to new injector (same bank).

Downstream O2 sensors look pretty straight forward to replace but want to be throwing parts at it.
