2014 gl450 air suspension issues.

Lately I have been noticing that rear right side of SUV is very low, infact as low as it can go, if unlock and lock vehicle it rises to level up and I am hearing mild hissing noise and it looses height again within couple of hours, no airmatic codes are showing up in dash, what is it and how can I diy fix it as my extended 75k mile warranty just ran out 6 months ago, thank you.

The airbags are a wear item and a relatively easy DIY if you are into that, and the Arnott aftermarket replacements are not that expensive (relatively speaking.) There are numerous threads on the DIY and it’s also a quick job for a shop if you are not set up to do it. Replace both in the back if you doing one since the other will follow.

Fix if soon, otherwise you’ll also need to replace the air compressor which will wear itself out quickly from overuse.

Alright, I am due for a B1 service in a month and since warranty has expired should I take it to MB dealer one last time and get it fixed or will it be too costly and I take it to a local shop instead.

I am wondering what did the dealer or you did to solve the problem. I had replaced both of my air springs due to right rear ruptured driving over a speed bump! The suspension raised to level but right rear sags 1.5 inches a few hours later! Raising & lowering were no problem and no malfunction light on dash! Removing fuse for compressor did not prevent the sag! I was wondering if the right rear gas shock was bad. I also just changed all 4 brake pads and the inner pad of right rear brake was worn the most and caused the check brake pad sensor light on dash! Wondering if need to replace the gas shock(s)! I have 76K miles on them! Driving is not an issue. The SUV lifts to level height when driving and raises but the right rear sags when parked a few hours!! Thanks for any more insight. Hopefully to not take to dealer!

You either have a "bad" bag (leak) or a leak elsewhere, and perhaps even related to the installation of the new bag. A connection, perhaps?

FWIW, the SUV sags due to loss of air to a bag, not a bad shock, as the shocks don't support the vehicle. And the reason it all works fine while running is the the compressor is providing air pressure, which is the same reason it sags after a few hours when the compressor is not running.

Your rear sag is due to height sensor damage or miscalibration after airbag blow.

I decided to go to a certified non-dealer Mercedes shop next week! The height sensor were not damaged nor touched with replacement of Arnott Air Springs. I don't have the equipment to calibrate the air springs if that is the problem and it can be the pressure line or valve block issue! There is a leak but not in the new air lifts nor line because I checked them out with soapy water!! I saved alot of money with DIYs but alittle frustrated with airmatic suspension so hopefully will get solution next weekl. Thanks for input!

Thanks! I made appt with certified non-dealer Mercedes Repair shop next week! I believed that it may be the line or valve block issue or need of calibration using a special tool! I tested with soapy water the lines and the air lift bags and no bubbles! Frustrated alittle but did save some monies doing DIYs but airmatic suspension can be complicated as I had been perusing the threads and YouTube!!

I just had this same issue, vehicle still has some CPO warranty left. Dealer fixed everything under warranty: replaced both rear air bags, valve block and compressor. Have two aftermarket air bags, brand new if anyone is interested. I bought them thinking it wouldn’t be a covered item. Selling well under what I paid
