Tailgate only happens half way

The tailgate on my 2013 Mercedes GL550 only opens halfway, I've tried opening it up all the way and holder the tailgate close button but I don't hear any beeps. I also hooked up my scanner and monitored the tailgate position, at half open the sensor thinks it's fully open. Does anyone know where the limit sensor is on these vehicles?

You can check into cluster menus as may be limited by a garage function.

Do you know how to check it on the facelifted models? I saw a video of how to do it on the older models but it seems the newer models you use the tailgate button to set it.

I checked those links but I don't think it's an issue with the strut, it doesn't leak at all and I tried the limiter set with the tailgate button but it didn't beep at all.

I'd think a good scan tool can reset the limits that your door opens/closes to the proper points.
Just did this on wife's Jeep GC yesterday and it took about a minute. A few weeks ago I replaced the gas strut on one side and apparently it is slightly shorter/longer than the OEM one because the gate would power closed as soon as it opened all the way. Relearning the limits solved it. I might be wrong but I think the "limits" are set by how much current the motor takes during opening/closing. A locked motor will use a lot of current and that position will be remembered. Did your gate get blocked halfway when it was recently opened? It may have started thinking that was the OPEN position.

TLDR: Use a proper scan tool to fix it.

I did some more testing, the problem is the sensor for the tailgate is not reading correctly, at full close it's supposed to read 0.5v and at full open 4.5v. The problem is it's reading 2.9v at full close and hits 4.5v at half open. If I push the tailgate manually up to the full open positive it's then reading 0.5v which is supposed to be full close. Anyone know where the sensor is located?

Is there not a "special function" sub menu that allows you to calibrate full open and full closed?

I tried that, didn't work, the problem is the sensor thinks the tailgate is half open when it's closed and fully open when it's only half open, it must be the sensor that's messed up.
