I know you are. Palladium Silver is a very nice color. Only 1 more month to go until production.

I changed my GL63 to obsidian black for a while but then switched back to Iridium Silver which will remain my final choice.
The only question will be when will MB release the 2014s - Aug or Sept?

My best guest will be that the 2014 GLs will be released at the end of July. MBUSA does not need to wait to clear out any excess inventory. I hope that means we will see our GLs in early August (or sooner for you!).

As some of you know I had a June allocation from a AMG PC in Tampa, FL. According to the SA, after I let go of the GL63, it was sold the same day to none other than TIGER WOODS. Apparently he was next in line after me at the MB of Tampa. If the SA is correct then Tiger's GL63 is here

It's a new car that just got added to MB of Tampa inventory. It will be in cars.com until delivery. I don't entirely know if its Tiger's but I don't suspect the SA making these kind of things either. It was my allocation originally so the timing is correct.

More seriously, it will be interesting to see how much later you get your MY14 with "your" original MY13 finally arriving now.

I finally got a 9/15 build date for my '14 GL63. I was getting worried. SA thinks it should be here by first week of October. Seems fast after waiting 8 months for a new SRT Viper to be built only to finally give up on it. Hope MB works better than Dodge at building and actually delivering their cars!

I finally got a 9/15 build date for my '14 GL63. I was getting worried. SA thinks it should be here by first week of October. Seems fast after waiting 8 months for a new SRT Viper to be built only to finally give up on it. Hope MB works better than Dodge at building and actually delivering their cars!
Congrats! How long have you been waiting for your build spot? Some of us on this board have (unfortunately) been waiting longer for a GL63 than your aborted wait for a new Viper. What are your specs for your GL?

I think we put the order in in April '13 for a '14 (after reading about all the delays here
) and were told we were the first one in at the San Antonio dealership at that time. (we live in Austin, but our dealer here sucks.) Perhaps others were still waiting on '13s? Anyway, I got the same color as my 550, boring, I know, but I love the Steel Grey with all the chrome on it. Red brake calipers, black interior with piano black lacquer (kid-proof). I think most of the other stuff was standard (e.g. lighted running boards which was an option on the 550 and we love them!), and we weren't going to get the rear-seat entertainment cause all the girls (4) have iPads these days, but my 15 y/o is "old-school" and needs a DVD player for some of her favorites.
We did upgrade the stereo in the hope that it will sound good. The Ferrari one sucks. And I have terrible night vision, so I added that option, even though I know some on here said they never used it. We live in a rural, suburban area of Austin with lots of wildlife at dusk as well as people and dogs walking late. I would love to see them better. Hope this works.
I want the steering wheel with the flat bottom as it is in my Ferrari, cause I always know where the wheel is and I hope we ordered right. The steering wheel was the most confusing option. Any info would be appreciated if someone else on here knows more than the dealer and SA did!

Thanks for your response. That is a great color combo. I have always admired the Steel Grey even if it is just a little too dark for me. It sounds like you will have a truly fully loaded GL63! And your wait from April to September is not too bad. If any of your girls are tech savy and can figure out how to play videos stored on the IPad on the Rear DVD screens, please let me know. We are split between an older but full DVD collection and a newer IPad only collection.

No prob. If I didn't already have a Steel Grey, I certainly wouldn't order one from the configurator. It's much darker on there than irl. There is a lot of blue in the grey. Assume you've probably seen one in person, but just in case. There are just so many black and white ones around here, and I find both of those very hard to keep looking clean. And hubby made us so long on silver/black for so many years on different things that I don't think I can ever go back, even though it's a great classic combo.
And yes, I'll see what the inputs look like if there are any when it comes. Would be nice if it could work like AppleTV and just stream to whichever screen they wanted it to. We moved back here from OZ in '08, so most of their old DVDs were PAL and didn't work anyway and I didn't have time to Rip them all to digital, so we are very heavy digital works these days, but still have a handful that we can't find digital so there you go.
Oh, and Viper issue was the same one faced here: we ordered a '13 LE and when by June it was still sitting in "Final Inspection" with no clear idea of when it would arrive, we decided we didn't want a car that late in the year when '14s are likely to start coming out soon. There were a few other factors, but that was the main one.
Waiting for a '14 from April to Sept '13, not a problem! Waiting for a '13 from Dec '12 to Jun/Jul/Aug? '13, a real problem!

we went from steel grey to steel grey also! at first i was second guessing it because it's kinda nice to get a different color when you get a new car, especially with the same make/model, but i just love it.

Yes, we have found that as well with all the cars we research. I guess we home in on one and get to know it very well.
I'd like to know the difference between the steering wheel options of 'wood leather...' And 'designo wood leather' because it looks like the designo does not have a flat bottom, which I prefer, while the first one does. Also, what is the 'standard' steering wheel in this if these are options?

1) Standard Wheel on the GL63 - flat bottom leather wheel
2) AMG Performance Wheel: looks the same as standard wheel (flat bottom) except has dinamica wrapping on sides
3) Wood leather wheel (optional) - same as 450 / 550
4) designo wood leather wheel (optional) - same as standard wood leather wheel except the wood is same as designo trim and the leather is designo nappa leather.
I went with the AMG performance wheel.
Also to note - the wood wheel does not have the aluminum shift paddles.

Congrats! I'm jealous how close you are to delivery. Is the last week of MY2013 production this week or is it the first week of July? I remember some earlier posts about MY2013 allocations and recall they went through the first week of July. I had thought that was the annual plant shut down week at Vance. Maybe no shut down to meet demand . . .
In any event, we need plenty of photos when your new GL arrives!
