Especially now that Sam and South Ocean have told me what I wanted to hear 
, I don't think i can bear waiting. I'm probably going to pick it up Friday. I am kicking myself for not locking in a first production run 2014 when I could have done so back in May, but at the time I was distracted and also still hoping the 2013 would arrive sooner. Yes, at this point at least I'm "only" paying MSRP, so that helps. Thanks all for your support and feedback. I'm ready to put all this in the rear view and just start enjoying driving the car.

Sometimes just finally making a decision is the biggest relief of all. You will have to share more photos and impressions after you have picked it up. I can't wait to hear (and see)!!

On the availability of the quilted pattern for the GL63, I was going off this post from way back on 2-15-13. Don't know if it is accurate but here it is again . . .
I have ordered 2 -GL63 amgs for 2 of my clients . Diamond white with Designo black leather with piano blk trim . The quilted pattern. AMG performance steering wheel. Red brake calipers.
I work for dealer in the Bay Area. AMG Performance Center.
The diamond pattern is x-11 in GL63AMG . same option X-11 in designo for the Gl550.

I will have your twin, but without trailer hitch and with B&O and Night Vision (even though I agree it's probably not worth it, but hubby wants, so hubby gets)
Although I am going to see if the diamond pattern is avail. I kinda really like that.

SO: IMO the sales rep is wrong on the quilted pattern. X-11 is the correct code for black designo upholstery for the GL63 as well as for the GL550. There is no way to request quilted pattern in the Netstar for the GL63. If you order a GL550 with black designo (X11) you get quilted pattern. If a GL63 is ordered with X11 then you get the non-quilted version. The non-quilted seats have the AMG badge where the quilted seats in a GL550 have the designo badge.

I am sure you are right about that. While I have seen only a few GL63s in photos, none have had the quilted leather interior. I guess this just reinforces for me that when you grow tired of your day job (whatever that is), you can take over sales at an AMG Performance Center and show a few old dogs some new tricks . . .

That was a VERY difficult decision with the Auburn Brown and wood options all site unseen. I ended up choosing the standard burled walnut. My thoughts were the Black may chop up the interior and had no opportunity to see the satin in person and maybe too risky. Early pics may not have done it justice.
With the brown dash and black roof liner, very tough decision and no opportunity for a mulligan and order/get another one. If made a mistake with a 550 no problem but, the 63 has a long wait list behind me with no visibility of future allocations.
So, we'll see tomorrow as it was released to carrier yesterday. Unfortunately, I'm out of town so won't set my eyes on it until August but, I'm sure they'll send pics.

I do know the dealer in Austin. DFW area is the same and that's why I have 2 orders with MB of Georgetown.
Designo - I ordered black interior on both GL63 and S550. I initially had porcelain on the GL but later switched to black as it is more elegant. I saw black interior in a ML63 and I have to agree its very nice. You won't be disappointed with Black.

I went by the local dealer today to see the black Nappa leather. They had an SL63 AMG with it. I was not impressed. Smelled very plasticky. Is that what all the AMG leathers smell like? I was expecting a better grade esp after Fabbrisd1 likened it to "Italian sexy." Didn't even smell like leather in that car. They didn't have an SUV of any type with it to compare but are supposed to have a GL63 in next week for someone (SOLD) and I'll try to get in to see it. Black/black like yours.

Black designo is definitely more elegant (to me) than porcelain. I think you will be happy with nappa leather when you get your GL63. It's the best leather MB has to offer. I am getting the exclusive nappa leather in my 2014 S Class.

Thanks. Have finalized the order and it's time to relax and wait. I liked the pics so much from 1Adam12 that I went ahead with Steel Grey/Auburn Brown/Satin Ash and previously mentioned options.

Congratulations. Waiting is the hardest part but yours is a short one compared to a lot of us - for me it will be 1 year in August. I started this process last August - initially for a GL550 but later switched to the GL63.

Looks like the model year 14 GLs are being released this month, which is no surprise given the lack of inventory of the 13s. Pricing has also been set with the MY14 GL 63 at $118,560.
JAQ1: I like that interior combo very much. BTW - There is now a slight up charge for the satin ash trim.

Yes I am excited for my GL63 and I hope SO is right about them being released this month.
I am sure my sales associate is happy as he had to put up with me for past year and finally he will now get the sale.

JAQ1: I have been waiting even longer than Sam, as I put my order in wih my dealer last May when te GL63 was announced - which was way before th order banks finally opened in Nov.
I am also glad to see I have the rear airbag order after all. Dealer doesn't not know what that covers either.

Tom has been waiting for a while too and he has until October before he gets his.
I spent all my patience with the GL63 and was thus happy when my S550 order was allocated within 2 weeks of placing the order. S550 is scheduled for Sept 3rd decade.
