already Looked Into it, I Think Either Brabus Or Carlsson Is The Way To Go. The Only Thing That Makes Me Hesitate Is That They Want To Replace The Spark Plugs Because Of an Idling Issue

It took about 10-12 days. It sat in factory VPC for over a week before being released to carrier. Once released, it showed up in dealer inventory and then another 3-4 days to arrive. Dealer needed about 1 day to PDI.
Remember, these are US built cars. 6 weeks sounds about right if coming from Europe.
Very little visibility in this process. Dealer seemed to think they wait for enough SUV's to fill a truck to South Florida. Not many GL's getting built/released so, took longer to fill it up.
I live in a saturated Mercedes and other luxury car market. I've only seen 1 GL550 and 3-5 GL450's around town. No GL350's at all.
There's another GL63 in town (early delivery) but, that went north for the summer probably to return this fall. I've seen a few new ML63's around town over the last 1-2 years and quite a few ML550's.

okay so I looked into it and renntech is the only company that wants you to change the spark plugs, they offer a two year warranty on their tune and horse power increases to 630 and 656 pounds of torque on the other hand brabus performs an ECU tune and auxiliary intercooler for a whopping 650 horsepower and 732 pound feet of torque that comes with a Mercedes backed four-year 50,000 mile warranty. I don't think you can beat that. Brabus also offers a exhaust valve control that is located in the cabin

Whether or not to change the plugs depends on what plugs (OEM) are being used and how much extra hp/tq, in the form of boost pressure, etc. is being created in the engine. The OEM plugs are matched to deal with a certain level of combustion. If you increase that pressure beyond a certain point it is usually a good idea to replace the plugs by going "1 step colder" than your current OEM plugs. This prevents misfires, keeps the boost throughout the rpm range, and prevents you from melting anything in your engine!
The ECU tune for the 63 isn't really giving you huge gains so you might be just fine with OEM plugs. The gains on the GL450/550 however are huge (adding ~140hp & 150tq) because they are so detuned (especially the 450) so changing the plugs is highly recommended.
Last thing I would say is that I respect Renntech a lot. Great company. What I think is VERY unfortunate is how much they markup their spark plugs/filters. It's like 2.5 times! They already are making a lot on their tune.....a lot.....also whacking you for the simple add-ons is unnecessary (IMO).

Who is telling you that Mercedes is going to back the Brabus tune and modifications? Mercedes won't warranty anyone elses work especially if it causes damages. However, MB has the burden of the Magnuson-Moss warranty act that does not let them void a warranty based on modifications. They have to prove that the mods caused the damage.

Brabus Claims More Horse PowerThan RennTech, probably Don't See To Many Brabus Cars Because They Are So God Damn expensive. I Spoke To Two different Guys At Brabus And They Both Confirmed That Their Modifications Would Not Void Mercedes Factory Warranty ! I Think That Is Reason Alone To Go With Brabus. The Only Thing That Turns Me Off About RennTech Is They tune Different Manufactures and Don't Focus Strictly On Mercedes.

There are many other companies that offer "block tuners" like Brabus. I see some budget tuners around here using those so it's definitely not a premium product. It does sound enticing but I'm not sure if there are drawbacks to that method of tuning the ECU or not.

My GL63 chasing a SLS GT Coupe at the Mission race way. Small tight track with lots of turns so hard to get the speed up but a heck of a lot fun anyway! Didn't have many chances to peek at the odometer of my car but caught it once at 155kph before slowing for a hairpin turn. Fastest so far remains 205kph!
