Tomshop, congrats on getting one of what appears to be the first batch allocated!
I spoke to my dealer who confirmed what looks like the first production month's run being allocated. Unfortunately, I am not on the list. Dealer seems to think that is March production, but you should be able to find out more in a couple of weeks.
Keep us posted.

Thanks. I will believe it when I see it. For my previous order cars they gave me a "window sticker" that I signed which confirmed the car was going into production. When did you place your order?

You have a much better relationship with your dealer than me. This is my first time ordering from this dealer. I don't know who to believe in this process. Congratulations. Hopefully ours will be soon behind. I ordered on December 7 so my order is way behind yours. Maybe MB is pulling orders as they were entered into the system and notifying dealers before it appears in the system as an allocation.Originally Posted by Tomshop
I placed my order on 11/23 when ordering banks opened up. I asked for the window sticker but was told it is not yet available. it is possible my dealer is not giving my correct information but as I mentioned before I have bought many cars from them and they have always been honest with me about delivery timing.

Does anyone have the US equipment list for the GL63 like the one posted earlier for Canada?
I posted it in the first entry here.
Sorry about the resolution, source is not really intended for file print.
Fact is, there will be very few, and at this moment the only way to secure a order that will be confirmed by the factory is with a AMG Performance Center and for a AMG PC they themselves do not have confirmed production dates yet.
There will be a fixed, small, quanity for model year 2013 - international pre-solds in select areas/countries (Dubai will be #1) will get 1st priority, followed by pre-solds by North America AMG PC's, then/maube/lottery like chance, a few might be allocated to regular North American dealers..
Comments in Nov/Dec from a regular dealer who says "looks like production date X/XX" really should be translated to "I am choosing to lock you down until I know for sure I can't, and then I will blame MB if I can't" - make your own decision on that type of dealer behavior

Ordered mine when the order banks opened up like you as my dealer had been "holding" my order since the summer.

Hang in there . . . we will get there. That was just the first month's allocation.

I will know shortly. You may be correct but I have never had an issue in the past with this dealer and I have always ordered my cars. They are adamant that the information is correct. As I mentioned before they had allocations for the SLS gullwing and the SLS roadster when they were very hard to get.Originally Posted by fabbrisd1

I am sure we will get a March slot. You should get one before me as my order was entered on the 8th of December. I am hopeful.Originally Posted by South Ocean1

Didn't see a heated steering wheel option in the list provided? Looks like most everything else is STD except BO sounds and RSE. Loaded for sure. Now the bigger question for me black or white?
I generally don't like white cars but think the GL looks good in white and of course it is much easier to keep clean. I have a black car which looks great when it is clean but it really shows dirt. I went with grey.
The combination ObsidianBlack + Black Designo + Piano Black Piano Lacquer is downright knockout...Designo Black leather "feels" downright sexual.. I am not normally a black-on-black guy..but comes across as Italian luxury really.. quilted seats feel almost like carbon-smooth-sexy..
Interior Designo Porcelain has a slightly stiffer feel and wrapped seat corners show a bit more distortion, wood is a choice, but again Piano Lacquer has me entranced.
Designo Auburn is gorgeous, really makes a "leather" statement, best match with match Satin Ash... exterior I would be conflicted, but partial with that combo to Dakota.
Steel Gray metallic a great exterior color, conflicted on interiors.
My personal opinion, and I have personally expereinced all three interior, but my preference may be different than others..

Any thought on anthracite poplar wood?

I have an iridium silver with porcelain and piano lacquer trim on order in a GL63. I have black and black on a 08 550 (standard leather - not designo) and I am trying to change things up. I have never seen silver with porcelain but hope this color combination works. Black exterior is nice only for a day after its washed but it always shows dirt.Originally Posted by fabbrisd1

Haven't seen a Obsidian Black side by side with regular black, what's the big diff. Have to agree with you on the black on black. Just can't over how nice it looks. Plus just scares me to death thinking about how dirty porcelain would get if I got it.

I have porcelain on my other car which is 7 months old. With dark blue exterior it looks fantastic and even with 3 kids after 7 months it is still clean. When I got it I figured I would just get it detailed every year. Obsidian is metallic and reads slightly blue. If you get a dark exterior you have to commit to keep it clean. Darker colors really pop when they are clean but of course show dirt.

With a brand new MB, before you grunge up the clear coat with contamination. I recommend the German Einszett Glanz Wax wipe-on-wipe-off polish - blue top can, not green.
With Einszett no need for orbitals and the like. On a GL 16 oz can will last you like 5 applications.
Some firends go for Black Fire which is a bit more tedious. The Einszett is the easiest to apply.
Objective on a fresh MB is to get a even light coat, hazes up in about 2 min but let set for about 20-30 minutes, then wipe off with clean micro-fiber towel, works great on wheels too. Check Amazon like $20.
I have a couple classic MB show cars, but with older paint that is a entirely different story, for me those get maniacal.

Has anyone in the long island NY area placed an order on GL63? My dealer said ordering banks aren't open yet

I think the order banks are open but there are mixed opinions on whether allocations are there. If there is no allocation then the dealer does not have a car to sell regardless of whats in the order bank. The factory is closed for holidays / end of year. Originally Posted by tony cls63

Hopefully things will become clearer once they open on Jan 7th

My personal recommendation for GL63 - if you are looking for a discount as part of your decision load up a GL550 to the max - on GL63's. 2013 model year will be very limited lets say April thru late June delivery - best availability for this limited supply will be thru the AMG Performance Centers - some owners might consider placing May/June order for model year 2014 delivery in Sept.October - just delivering my opinion. Frankly, this sort of parallels the same situation with 2012/2013 ML63's if you catch my drift.
Are ML63's generally available now?
