He said my car will be built in March but Mercedes is not releasing GL63's until late June. I had this happen recently with Porsche where they did not release the cars until a certain date even though they were built before. We will all know shortly what the truth is...

South Ocean1 - Something you may like - I received this from my SA regarding GL63 - notice from MB
"GL63 Production Delays
We are in ongoing negotiations with Germany to increase production as well as pull forward capacity to meet current demand. Germany has assured us that they are doing everything possible with both production and suppliers to fulfill the demand."

That was an interesting note from your SA, but after reading it twice I still don't know what it means beyond nothing is changing . . . Hope I am wrong . . .u

Fab - can you shed some light on this. I know there are production delays and I can understand it may explain the delivery delay for the GL63 but why would Mercedes make the car and not deliver until late June- doesn't make any sense to me. I still believe that the dealer is not being forthright but I guess time will tell.

No way that makes sense. MBUSA has publicly indicated US release for the GL63 will be 1Q 2013. To meet that rep, they need to build a few in late March. I think that is why we are seeing at least a trickle build in March. Separately, I have very recently heard MBUSA AMG comment that the GL63 will be at dealerships next month. Now that doesn't address the bigger issue that there will be so few that we may be more likely to see an R63 (nod to xxGenericSNXX) than a GL63 until summer.
Sorry Tomshop, but I just don't think your dealer is being straights up with you.

The way I took it is - at least MB is admitting there are production delays and that they are doing something about it.
Up until now we know that allocations were limited but did not know if it was intentional or due to other issues. I am now thinking there are supplier issues that lead to limited allocation. Hopefully they can pick up production and we can get our GL63.
I failed to mention that the email was from MB ordering and allocations dept to MB sales

the G65 just came out a few months ago so I think you are mistaken with the G63 or possibly a V12 engine swap, very few people have the opportunity to buy one, most of the sold ones end up in Dubai or Russia.

You are right. I know it was an AMG so must have been the G63. I wasn't that interested at that time and this I guess confirms it - shows how much attention I was paying.

and yea i too heard that most of these end up in dubai/middleeast and Russia- and thats fine- but i'd like to know why not here as well? i mean its made here, should be easier to get one, especially with the demand for it..
boy i'm glad i didnt wait for it for this long- and listened to my dealer- he told me last year-
getting a gl63 will be the 'best deal' for a gl63 and since i really couldnt wait more
than a few weeks, we had ordered the 550-
out of these 35, is there a single person on this board/forum or someone who is one of these 35 with a 'confirmed' order and a PO #? not one where 'the dealer' has confirmed it, or 'deposit placed' trust me i was there last year- wanted to put a decent deposit down thinking it'll help with a confirmation- but nope- its just next to impossible to get one...
good luck to everyone waiting- i really hope you guys get confirmations soon, get ur rides and get to enjoy them..

So I'm a little confused about your comment as you acknowledge that G65s do exist from the factory, yet are saying something about a G63 with a V12 engine swap.

Thanks very much for the additional color on the email you referenced. I agree with you that, while it doesn't mean we will get our GL'a this spring, the limited build numbers will be addressed eventually and the supply will grow significantly. When that will be - my best guess is fall of this year.

G63 is the only AMG G available for US/Can. G63 and G65 are available in the rest of the world (including Mexico!)

I wish I knew whether they are or not. As I mentioned I have bought 5 heavily optioned and ordered S classes from this dealer and I have never had an issue. Not sure why they would risk the relationship. I placed my order the first day order banks opened up. We will know shortly.

oh let me clear that up, what I meant is if he saw a G65 in the States it was not a factory G65, more like someone grabbing the 6.0 V12 from another AMG wheter it was a wreck, write off car etc etc and putting it in the G wagon, people do AMG engine swaps all the time, huge youtube section on it.

TomS - I suspect your dealer took your request, then the dealer entered a order request when the bank "opened" - that request has not been confirmed/allocated by the factory - then your dealer is hoping that open request will be confirmed/allocated when June production is opened up.... and frankly the fact the order request has been "hanging out there" has absolutely very very little bearing on whether or not it will confirmed/allocated for that "dealer" .
The GL63 production #'s for March/late Spring have always been the #'s that out there today - and for watch its worth those #'s will not "increase dramatically" for May/June.
MY14 planning will increase #'s for GL550's/450's/maybe even pickup a bit on the 350's - since low stock levels lose business to other luxury brand SUV's... as best I know MY14 planning will not "dramatically" increase for the GL63 except to go for a longer build year... on "63's I would advise pick the dealer in your home state to hang your hat with ....

My "guess" for total MY13 I would say about 75.
The Dallas/Tx option is to load up a MY14 GL550 to about $115K-$117K for Sept delivery - then after delivery either do a RennTech job, or I expect the German/Euro tuners will have a bit more figured out by then... down pipes and a tune should set you back maybe $8K.
