High Mileage GL63 Purchase Wisdom

Hello-

I have a 100k mile 2015 GL63 that I'm looking at purchasing from an Audi dealer. She's in decent condition, but will need a few things (interior dash rewap, buttons worn etc).
There is no warranty from the dealer (Audi), but they are offering a 1 year comprehensive for 8200$ or a powertrain coverage through carshield at 6000$. Price is pretty insane, but the price point on the car is great. Looking to get my wife and kids into this as its as close to a tank as possible.

I will have to take a look at the cam magnets etc. I was pretty surprised that there is zero coverage from the dealer (30 days?). They agreed to let me take the car to a local indy for inspection.

Looking for thoughts on reliability, warranty, high mileage on the platform and general way forward.

Think twice. Maybe three times. The M157/M278 is developing a tarnished image at higher mileage.

Read about and inspect for:
- cam magnets and cam position sensors (as mentioned)
- cylinder scoring
- turbo oil lines
- valve guides
- chain tensioner - not sure on this one
- air suspension (air bags) needs replacing soon if not already done

166 platform is solid. Good steering, brakes, electrics and interior. Second row power folding seat sometimes fails.

I recently test drove a GLS63, same platform as the GL. I didn't care for it. Far too large for my needs. Didn't feel terribly fast, although it apparently is a 5 second 0-60 car. It is a big boat.

Those warranty prices are insane, here is some warranty information from our provider Freedom Warranty, more than just drivetrain comment coverage, for a lot longer terms, accepted at all Mercedes Benz dealers and licensed independents in the country. You can reach me at tgibson@highline-autos.com or (855) 924-1333 if you have any questions or would like to see an example contract that explains coverage.

What's the sales price? I'm thinking about getting out of my 2018 gls63 w/100k on it. Maybe you'd rather have that.

Also, I convinced the dealer to let me go get a PPI... fast forward to today and the dealer specifically will not let the shop scan codes... only a visual inspection.

How fishy is this?

Honestly would pass because if they weren't hiding anything, they would let you scan for codes
