2016 GL63 DTC P01B5
So, I'm already asking for help. Have any of you experienced this code? Does anyone have any information on why it gets set and how to diagnose and fix the problem? I don't even know what an Alternate Fuel Rail might be or where this temperature sensor is located. I'm guessing that fuel temperature might be used as an input among many other things to calculate fuel injector durations but that is purely a guess.
If anyone could help me out with some information or tell me where to go to get it, I will be very grateful.
Thanks,
Ron
This is my first MB, and first vehicle with this level of sophistication and complexity. I love it, but also made my first mistake at purchase... I couldn't resist the condition and low mileage for a 2016, so ignored the fact that it didnt have a tow package even though that was definitely something I wanted.
Told myself it is probably not a big deal, just get the parts and bolt them in and connect the wire harness up..............wrong............ my first mistake.
Anyway, that is why I am hear as I am going through the painful process of getting the OEM tow package in, and going to pay dearly for it.
Anyway, wish I could help with the code.
I found many links, but guessing you already have the full OBD2 code list, but that doesnt help in fixing the problem.
Did some searching, maybe this video will help some, even though they are not GL63 AMG.. or GL...
Hope it is a simple and low cost fix.

This sensor is mentioned in the M157 intro doc from Mercedes, apparently it sits on the right rail (page 32)

Jcars, wow, thanks for the link. What a great summary on our engine! I am printing it out and will reference it many times in the future. I did reset the code and it hasn't returned. It was set in heavy rain and it never reset on its own after 500+ miles and multiple start cycles. So, I guess I will just wait and see if it comes back. Thanks to you, I now know where the sensor is. Thanks again for that.

So, this code does point to the temperature and pressure sensor on the right, high pressure fuel rail? Thanks to Jcars, I know where that is at least. I'm guessing that this code isn't going to tell me whether the fault was pressure OR temperature related.
Thanks very much for the response. First Mercedes but I am learning.
