Active Curve System Malfunction

Hey y’all,

new to the forum. Got my GL63 a year ago from my uncle who is AMG obsessed. The problem developed a month later after some regular maintenance servicing at a local independent shop.

i just replaced both front air struts, had a failure on the driver side a few months ago and just did the passenger a few days ago. Will be replacing the rears and both rear shocks too. Anyhow, the issue pops up on curves that make the vehicle lean to the right. It feels like something lets go up front on the driver side for a moment, and you’ll hear a very slight pop.

my hydraulic fluid is clean and no issues with the top popping off. I’m leaning towards replacing the sway bar links and bushings. Any insight would be amazing. Thank y’all.

My pump went south around 80k miles. Once they replaced it, all was good.

2017 gle 400 top off hydraulic fluid

Help appreciated. I have a 2017 gle 400 now with constant active curve malfunction warning but I can't tell the difference. (not an aggressive driver). I can do simple things and was going to first see if the hydraulic fluid was full and top it off if needed. Any considerations when doing that? Should I just take it to the dealer.
Thanks

Yeah, that pop on a lean is classic. Since you just did the struts, my money is on the sway bar links. They're a common culprit for that exact noise and feeling when the body rolls.
Do the links and bushings first. It's the most likely fix and a lot cheaper than chasing other ghosts.

My pump was starting to leak so I had it replaced a year or so back and the malfunction started popping up randomly - can go 6 months between showing up. I have also been chasing a hollow sounding "clunk" in the front end that is very noticeable over small speed bumps as well so just curious if maybe this is 1 in the same.

Look at the level sensors. Best is a XENTRY system. At minimum look at the sensors with an OBD reader.

I wanted to give follow up and also seeking advise. I added hydraulic fluid and that resolved the active curve malfunction issue for a few weeks then, the warning returned. This has now happened several times and each time the fluid cap has popped off no obvious leak. I have a 2017 which is immediately after the hydraulic cap recall. I'm told I have the "new" cap. When I've been getting the malfunction warning, every time the cap has popped off. I push it back on and the warning goes off immediately. (It is not loose and does take some effort to pull it off). My MB service says that the cap popping off won't initiate the warning but he is happy to sell me a new cap $60. Today, the cap was popped and for the first time, I noted hydraulic fluid on the reservoir top and dripping down the side. The tank was also low on fluid. Could this be some type of excessive pump pressure problem? I'm sure the dealer will gladly sell me a new pump but do I need it? I hear no noise when turning at the time of the warning. Any help/thought appreciated.
