2015 GLA 250 knocking sound
I just bought this car 7 months ago & a couple months ago it started making a knocking sound when I turn from a complete stop. For example, when I pull up to a stop sign & then accelerate to go right or left there’s a knocking noise that is kind of loud at first & only lasts a few seconds. It sounds concerning & only happens when I push on the gas. I’m wondering if it could be because i put regular gas in a couple times a while back. Would this really effect my engine? It has about 70,000 miles on it & I think I’ve put a few thousand on it since I bought it. I have an appointment set up but they couldn’t get me in for a while. Does anyone know about this

Knocking can be due to the following reason
Hope this helps
- Too low octane
- Bad timing
- Lean air/fuel mixture
- Bad knock sensor
- Worn bearings. This can result of poor oil filter seals which reduce oil pressure and some parts of the engine starve

You should never use regular gas in your GLA. Your GLA owner's manual recommends premium and that's what you must use. MB uses higher compression ratios in order to achieve maximum power with less engine weight so using premium gas is a must. You can very definitely damage your engine by using regular gas. The few pennies per gallon you save by using regular gas will be more than spent in engine damage repairs.

Oh I forgot to mention !
When I went to advanced auto to get something for it, he said “does it knock when it’s in park &/or neutral?” I said I didn’t know, so we tested it in the parking lot & it did not knock in park or neutral. He said therefore it couldn’t be engine related. What are your thoughts ?

Never use any kind of fuel additives in your car either. Mercedes-Benz opposes the use of fuel additives in it's vehicles. Premium gas already contains additives that help to keep the engine clean and limit the carbon build-up. Hopefully you've now learned the hard way to only use premium gas in your GLA.

My car **** the bed tonight
About a mile & a half from my house my car started flashing a light that said “Coolant too hot, stop vehicle, turn off engine” I looked at the coolant reservoir & it looks full. I’m waiting for it to cool to take the cap off. Any suggestions ?

You were wrongly running regular gas in your ca when the knocking happened. I suggest you read your owner's manual from cover to cover in order to learn about your car and about what not to do like not using regular gas.
