My GLB Progress
Hey everyone,
just picked up my wife’s 2020 GLB, black on black AMG package with night package as well.
I plan on modding this a bit, nothing too crazy as it’s my wife’s SUV, I have my C63 I can tinker with

I suspect when the quarterly sales numbers come out in early April we're going to see that the GLB is selling like fire, but the GLC on the other hand will have experienced a big drop.

I agree. My expectation before GLB introduction is that it would squeeze the GLC. The GLA is much smaller and not comparable to the GLB in my view.
A question is what will M-B do with the GLC? The GLE is secure in its segment, in my view, from a size/price/features/performance point of view.
To me the only logical way forward is to take the GLC up in price. This leaves room for GLB pricing to expand.
The GLC would then need to offer luxury, size, technology, features or performance vs the X3 and Q5 to attract buyers. If the GLC were premium priced vs X3 and Q5, the likely result would be lower unit sales, but if M-B does it correctly, high profits could result.
The GLB is a tricky and smart product action by M-B. It is an almost-overlap in the market with the GLC, but not exactly. The GLC is the only vehicle in its segment to offer a V8 powertrain option.
