Question GLB 35 DCT TRANSMISSION QUESTION

Hi all,
Luckily enough I recently own a GLB 35, everything is perfect since the beginning. However, I got a question regarding a DCT transmission:
Yesterday when I drove up to my garage (My yard quite like a uphill), I experienced sort of noise when stopped on an incline, took my foot off the brake and hit the accelerator. It's like a small clunk sort of sound. Metal on metal sort of thing. This sound appeared in the gearbox for like 2s before automatically selecting a gear to slightly move uphill. It sounds unusual to me because I only used to own a CVT before and that matter never happens before.
I'm wondering if it is a characteristic of DCT or should I have it check at the next servicing? if it is a characteristic of DCT, how should I correctly go uphill with a DCT to avoid that noise happening again?

I found DCT to be very jerky at low speeds especially on the hills. I think it has to do with how it's tuned. It feels like it wants to shift gears prematurely only to downshift a second later, thus generating jerky transmission feeling.

I didn't notice anything like that eg 2 sec delay....However I know when I start in the morning that car moves to front before I was shifting to reverse until it picks up the gear similar to manual transmission... I saw one review of GLB 250 (below) in snow/ice that made it stalled due to spinning / low speed drive. Couple comments are saying DCT has to find its right gear similar to manual shift so that might be the reason.... As Vladimir said it is jerky in low speeds and better in higher speeds... It is not like CVT that has no gear... Still I would check with MB service center...

More info about DCT: https://www.jdpower.com/cars/shoppin...h-transmission

min 8:46: "this is manual transmission that happens to be automatically controlled so that may explain a certain criteria of driving may give a delay or weird shift because computer can only predict a driver's input to a certain degree"... That is why when on gas the computer is predicting that you are shifting up and breaking as shifting down....

Like most are echoing. It’s normal.

i said the same after getting my GLB35.

I’ve found that creating your own drivers setting with engine input on the low/mild setting.

and resetting the DCT to readapt to your driving style has worked for me on the jerkiness.

Can I personally reset the DCT? or I should go to the dealer and ask them to reset them for me? After looking up about DCT, I think my case is normal because that how DCT works. They are jerky at low speed and uphill.
I am thinking I could switch to manual 1st gear to move up to my garage but don't know if it makes any sense haha.

yes sir! You can. Look up MB DCT trans reset on YouTube. It works on all late 2010 up models.

once you reset. Don’t romp on the throttle or it’ll re-adapt to the same style.

I think that it's mostly getting used to the DCT. The DCT has a clutch, so it takes off like a manual transmission. The 722.XXX transmissions in every other MB we have had are always connected to the rear wheels through the torque converter, so there is no "clutching" at take off. I learned on a manual and have driven pretty much everything in years of field work. The DCT seems fine to me. My wife has never driven a manual and she said the the GLB's DCT felt different when pulling out into traffic, so she had to adjust her driving technique.

Yea! I learned to drive manual too so I can notice how it behaves like a manual. When I brake at the uphill and release the brake I can notice the car is flow back a little before the clutch kick in and connect to the gear to pull the car up. I think that I shouldn't press the gas pedal too quickly after releasing the brake because the clutch is trying to re connect back to the gear. if I push the gas to quick, I might create the sound that I hear "metal on metal sound". The best way I think is to leave the clutch to fully reconnect to the gear for 1-2 secs before press the gas pedal. The funny thing is I haven't heard that sound again. This car costs a lot in Vietnam around 132k USD due to tax imposed so if there is anything sound wrong, it always makes my heart racing.
