Loose multimedia USB port?

Does anyone else have what seems like a loose USB port for the front port (used for connecting our phones for Android Auto or Apple Carplay)?

Supposedly mine just got replaced with a new one at the dealership. It connects snug like expected but I can wiggle the cable and it feels loose. It seems to be the assembly and not the connector itself.

Anyone know how to remove the port? I'm thinking of glueing it from the bottom. Maybe?
Looks like I just need to pop it out, but I'm afraid of breaking it.

I also found front usb-c port very loose from the start. I purchased angle usb-c cable for it and never had issues since. Personally I would not recommend glueing anything in, but if you want to get to it, you would need to remove center counsel top.

As a side note. USB-C ports are notorious for collecting dust. You will be surprised how much lint is inside after a while. You can use fine toothpick to clean it. You can find plenty of YouTube videos on the subject.

Hi Vladimir,

First, thank you as always for your insight.

I also use a 90 degree angled USB C cable. The connectors of the cable and port is very tight so that isn't the issue but at that point cable/USB port connector are wobbly and moves around loosely.
The car USB c port seems to be loose and not seated or held in properly by the plastic trim. I was thinking of glueing or taping down the connector from the inside to hopefully limit the movement of the connecter.
so I have to pop off the entire center console to get to it? Or can I just pop off the small plastic that houses the USB port?

Unfortunately I do not know if you can just pop the part with usb-c port, and I could not find any videos on YouTube related to Mercedes.

I couldn't find anything specific either. Regardless this doesn't seem like something I can just tape down. The USB port is an actual module. So I'm thinking the dealership did nothing and told me they did or they replaced the one in the center storage compartment instead. I would imagine if it were new it would be seated properly and not wiggle.
In case anyone is curious, the part number is 247-820-41-02

Check your work order for the usb-c replacement, if it lists the part number for the module than they replaced it. The usb-c port inside the storage compartment is very wiggly as well. I am guessing that is how they all made for MB.

Based on the pictures for this part number, there are restraining clips on the sides, which would need to be pressed from underneath to release the module.

Vladimir thank you as always.

Looks like they replaced it with a remanufactured part 247-820-38-02-80? That part number is listed under "perform quick test". then it says, ”multimedia connection unit in front stowage compartment replace". So looks like they did replace it and it now works as designed....

So I guess I'll just have to figure something else out to keep it from moving around and disconnecting when going over bumps.

I had the same issue with android auto disconnecting when driving over bumps, however with angle cable and after cleaning charging port on my phone the issue went away.

My 2023 GLB socket is also loose but connection seems OK.

Thanks for the response. The connection is definitely better now even though it feels loose.
