Brakes/Rotors rusted out on GLB 250 4matic - Cost to replace??
Hey there. I’m looking at buying out my lease and was told today while it was put through the shop to certify (at a cost of $1800) that my 2020 GLB 250 4matic needs front and rear brakes/rotors. The technician said they are completely rusted out. It just hit 13k miles. I'm being told it's roughly $1600 to $1700. Does this sound right?

Sounds like you are being taken advantage off. Even if you need both sets of breaks and rotors changed, which is very unlikely at 13k miles (unless you have a flooded car), the cost to purchase breaks and rotors parts for both front and rear is somewhere in $300-$400 range.
If you buying your lease out, just ignore the dealer and go to independent shop.
All rotors rust since they made out of steel, unless you have carbon ceramic rotors, nothing unusual there.

Our GLB250 has over 50,000 miles on it and the brakes are just fine. The price for brakes at the local dealers in my area is $1400 for front or rear with rotor replacement. Rotors are recommended at every other brake service. Independent Mercedes shops are charging ½ - ⅔ that price.

I’m not looking at your car, but I’m suspicious.

May be I am missing something, but if you are buying your lease out all you have to do is to pay Buy Out amount and car is yours no matter what shape it is. I cannot imagine that NH laws are that different from NY.

That sounds like a scam. They are essentially saying they need to protect you from you.
We bought my wives leased Honda last year, since buy out amount was much less than car value. My wife called the bank on the lease bill, got pay out amount including tax, address where to send a check, and once the check was cashed they send us a Bill of Sale and signed title.
That was it.

Your lease agreement typically has buy out terms. If it does not says anything about certifying the car as a term of buy out you can tell them to shove it or show where does it state in your agreement.

Oh good point!! I’ll find my contract and see if it says anything about that. Thank you!

Im a little late to the convo here but that is nonsense. I just bought out my GLB and they tried a whole bunch of this BS with me as well at the dealership. All kinds of added fees that made no sense. I then simply called MBFS and told them I wanted to buy out the lease. You completely bypass the dealer and all the extra charges they try to stick you with. Good luck.
