24' GLB 250 - Check Engine Oil Level

Hi Team.

I got a warning today on my GLB250 about Check Engine Oil Level at Next Refueling (Add 1 Quart). 1st time getting that message.. never on my 4years with '21 GLB 250. I have only 9k miles on it..Leased the car in November 2024. There are no leaks that I can see.. no oil in the floor etc.. Can I be concerned about it? I know I need to schedule my 1st A service as the car says Service A due in 4 days.. Do I need to add 1 Quart to it asap? Can I drive the car even with that warning?

Not even sure which oil I need to use for it. Is there an oil stick available to manually measure the oil?

Depends on how much of it being too low, check engine oil in the service menu, other than that try to avoid high rpm driving and get the service done soon.

I got Mobil 1 (1qt) ESPx2 0W-20 with an MB spec of 229.71. Planning to let the card idle for like 20 minutes to take a reading again... to see if it is still showing the Engine Level on MIN... before pouring the 1QT I got from Walmart.

You have probably figured out that there is no dipstick. Make sure you are level and the oil is up to operating temperature, although I think the GLB250 will give a warning if either of these are out of range. If the detected oil level was serious, it would have given a stronger warning than check at next refueling. Most dealers have an express service where you can drive in without an appointment for A Service. If you get in early they can usually be done in 45 minutes to an hour.

Yes. I tried the reading with the car as level as possible.. and the reading came back with the same message of adding 1QT and in MIN. I went ahead and added the 1QT of Mobil 1 and did another reading and now the warning is no longer displayed and it is back to MAX. I re-check to be sure there was no leak and I didn't see one... Is it normal for a car to consume that much Oil in 8900 miles in 7 months? I don't drive like crazy... just regular driving mostly driving in the city with a lot of stop and go traffic. Surprised that with the '21 GLB250 I never got that message in the 4 years I had the car and of course afraid that there is a leak somewhere. I will schedule Service A soon and will pass the info to my advisor.

Your GLB250 is brand new. It’s not unusual for a new vehicle to use about a quart before its 1st service during break in. That amount is not high, but continued consumption at that level would be unusual. Our GLB and GLAs don’t use any appreciable oil, but our ‘03 E320 used about ½ quart between services for its entire life.

The best way to see for a leak is to take out the under liner (10 X 8mm bolts)...I did this and found a leak...at 60,000KM... From Filter housing and directly drip on the oil pan sensor/connector... 4.5 hours job at dealer fortunately under warranty (should be around 1500$) !!

Thx

Yes, you can still drive the car, but you should add 1 quart of 0W-20 full synthetic oil (MB 229.71 spec) as soon as possible. Your 2021 GLB 250 likely doesn’t have a dipstick—check the oil level through the infotainment system under Vehicle > Service > Oil Level. Since your Service A is due in 4 days, you can top off now and let the dealer handle the full service soon.
