I believe it shows that it's at port...where it's been for 36 or more days now.

So I just sent the dealer a well crafted letter (email) with what my expectations are. Essentially, I told them I expect a call tomorrow telling me: that the car is in good order, the reason for the delay, that it is now assigned to a ship which will be leaving port by this Sunday 4/10 along with the ship name and ETA at port here, and an additional discount considerations (their discretion) on top of what we had previously agreed upon, disclosed in advance.
If ALL of these expectations can't or won't be met, refund my deposit and I'll move on. Simple. I don't want counter offers, alternatives, excuses, promised, etc. I don't even want to know what happened. Just refund the deposit, terminate any agreement and I'll find somewhere else to spend my $65k.
I'll be sorry to not get the opportunity to get the car but it is what it is. We'll see what happens. I don't think I'm being unreasonable...in fact, I think I'm being very fair (my wife is begging me to let her rip them). I'm not vindictive, nor do I feel the need to whine and carry on. I guess I'm too nice but all I'm asking for is what they "promised" (I use the term loosely because nothing it truly promised) and a little something for my troubles. I acknowledged that they may not have any culpability with whatever the issue is but being the customer facing facet of MB, they're the ones that are going to have to deal with it. Let them take it up with corporate.

Joe, I would take the same approach as you. State the facts, ask for details and commitments and move on if not satisfied. Good luck! From a selfish point of view, hope you get it or another MB so you stick around the forums. Your presence is an asset.

Ship dropped off car this morning in Long Beach Port.... and the ship is already gone and on to it's next destination....

The Dealer only 45 min away from VPC center in Long Beach. Let's see how long this takes

*update* - I have NOT heard from the dealer yet but it appears the car is on a ship now en route to Baltimore for a 4/19 port arrival.

Cool! It is very interesting that your dealer does not know what is going on or is communicating. They should see that info in Netstar that car is on the water.

Yeah...wondering why they haven't called. If they don't bother to even call me after the GM PROMISED to call me today regardless, I'll probably still walk away. I'm not going to do business with them if that's the treatment I can expect.

Last weekend I was told my GLC build was in status "B5 PRODUCTION COMPLETE".

So, usually, when I can expect to ask sales guy about VIN and start to track the ship?

AFAIK, if production is complete, it should have a VIN #. It seems like it takes a few days to get to port and a week or less to get on a ship (based on other experiences I've read about - don't go by the timeline I had )

Thanks! So once car is completed, sales guy should be able to query VIN from their NetStar systeam and let me know, right?

JEVA -- I wouldn't walk away if that's the car you want, optioned as you want especially if its a unique build. Don't take the dealer stuff personally; its not right they are not being responsive, but argue back loudly on the merits with a good heart. In my opinion, Two days after you leave the dealership, none of that is going to matter.

You should have a VIN now. Dealer should be able to tell you when it arrives in Bremerhaven and is assigned to Ship. Once you have ship name. You can track it using vessel tracker or marine traffic. If your car is on a WW ship. You can put your VIN in on their website

Wow...just wow. Probably the most inept and/or apathetic people I've ever dealt with. All I can do is shake my head. I'm not going to get into it on here and drag down the thread any more but they didn't even know it was assigned to a ship. WTF? I had to tell them. I'm going to make a personal appearance tomorrow evening and my nice guy attitude is probably going to be repressed.

It looks like car would have loaded today. Unfortunately NetStar is usually behind. My car loaded on Feb 3. Dealer could not tell me it was on ship/which ship till Feb 4 or 5.

After I told him it was on a ship, he looked it up and said oh yeah, it's assigned to a ship. It's like they didn't even make an effort.
I honestly think it was because I had a third party do an inquiry for me that it actually got movement. Someone over there said HOLY HELL, THIS THING HAS BEEN SITTING HERE A MONTH!
