Saw a GLC in Person This Morning - Pictures in the Flesh Attached

My dealer will be at the Tampa International Car Show this weekend and they got a GLC to have there. I was at the dealership this morning with my new C300 to have some warranty work done and I got to sit in it and take some pics. Hope these tide everyone over until their GLC arrives. My first impression is it's bigger and taller than I expected it to be. But it is after all, the GLK replacement so it has that kind of presence, only wrapped in C Class Style. Sorry for the crappy cell pics........

Very nice. It does look a like it rides a little high for my tastes, but so does the ML. This is solved by airmatic.

The back seat looks a little tight though.

We actually ordered a GLA (with just about every option available), which is sitting at the dealership (they're holding it for us until the GLC comes in). This is going to be my partners car and he wants something you sit a bit higher in. So, I'm pretty sure the GLC will win over the GLA. Even though the GLA is optioned nicer than the GLC.

On the rear seat legroom, I sat back there and at least for someone my height it was plenty roomy. If someone is really tall, it might be a tad tight.

Thanks for the pictures! I remember when 18" wheels looked great, not anymore though. Hopefully demo cars start rolling into other dealerships soon so we can get more pictures on the forum.

I imagine demo cars will show up when customer cars do. This car is only at my dealer today because they will the only local Mercedes dealer at the International Car Show, so Mercedes brought in a GLC, just for the show.

Yeah you're probably right. We can dream though, right?!

Edit: Looks like dealers have already received or started to receive demo "training" GLC300's here in the US. A few dealers have already posted videos on youtube and I've inquired to see if the local dealer still has there's available.

The note about the GLC 300 being larger and taller than expected is very helpful! I have not seen one in person yet, only in pictures, and somehow in the pictures it looks not that tall. Now, I thought the same thing of the GLE Coupe when I saw the pictures, and then when I saw it in person at the dealer I was very surprised how huge it looked (compared to what I thought from the pictures).

My understanding is the trainer cars are floaters. i.e., they send a trainer car to a dealer and then it moves on to other dealers.

The pictures are misleading. I was very surprised how much taller and larger it is in person.

A client came by and showed us his new GLA 45. Nice pocket rocket, but I kept thinking that the C450 is probably just a little slower but would be roomier and much more luxurious (love that c-class interior styling - as you are well aware). I just can't see the GLC losing to the GLA, unless your partner just wants a smaller tall car.

I believe the GLC is 2.4" lower than the GLK. I wonder why it looks taller?

Clearly you haven't been inside a new generation C Class. The Tom-Tom look as you call it is one of the coolest things about the interior. There's nothing "cheapo" about it at all. If you haven't noticed, Audi and BMW have also moved to stand-alone screens and in the C Class (as it will be in the GLC), it's fantastic. I say this because I already own a 2016 C300 which is pretty identical to the interior of the GLC. Mercedes hit a home run with the new interiors.

You are correct, but it doesn't feel shorter. And 2.4" isn't much of a difference really.

We're going to the auto show this weekend, so if it's locked, at least we were both able to see it and sit in it.

He does tend to like smaller cars, but the only reason the GLA could win over the GLC is we optioned the GLA with just about every option out there. From leather to Sport to 4Matic. That said, I'm pretty sure the GLC is going to be the winner.

Consumer Reports is lukewarm on the GLA. Quoting their road test: "if you expect real Mercedes qualities -- such as a hushed cabin, plush ride, and a vault-like solid feel -- you'll be disappointed". Of course, most of us are more interested in Car & Driver's opinion than that of CR.

I stopped reading CR long ago. I trust my own experience more and I had a GLA as a loaner for a couple days not long ago and thought it was fun to drive. If you option one to the hilt, it's very Mercedes nice. Still, I doubt a GLA will wind up in our garage. The GLC is the one he's leaning towards. I just want him to get a car that he'll like for a long time. We paid cash for the C300 Sport a few weeks ago and we're doing the same with whichever one he gets and the intent is to keep them for a long time.

Saw 1 @ my local dealership (C class, w/ipad glued to dash heck it doesn't even use entire screen) looks like tacky cheap crap period.. NOTE Flagship models SLS GT AMG S600/S63/S65 SL600/63/65 S63 Coupe etc.. Or the 2016 Maybach S600 surely would want to share "coolest thing about the latest C class" (As you put it) From the Entry Level c class... Ahhh nope NONE of the Flagship Models get the kmart special Tom-tom nav.. Again it's myop & obvious ultra cost cutting by mb

You're entitled to your opinion. One I don't share though. The Command system comes with a bigger screen and it's simply fantastic. It doesn't look glued on. Has amazing resolution and is positioned perfectly. Simply, to me and everyone I know who owns one, it is not cheap, tacky or crap at all.

Don't be surprised to see the E and S classes which will have redesigns in the coming year to also go with similar screens.

The E class is not a mb Flagship model.. Lol the integrated dash on S is smaller than the "Radio-Shack ipad in entry level C?" Looks double the width to me? Not to mention notable upgrade in Nav graphics showing buildings etc etc..

Better recheck your measuring tape

c300..

Not sure what your purpose is in being so critical, but I never said the new generation S class would have the same screen as a C Class. I would be disappointed if I spent that much money and it did. What I said was don't be surprised if the next generation E and S Class has a detached screen like the C Class.

I could care less whether you like the screen in the C or GLC. Since you don't, what's your purpose for posting here? There are things I don't like about Audi, BMW or Porsche, but I don't go to forums devoted to those 3 Marquis and post what I don't like.

This is a Public Forum, of which I'm a long time member, last I checked it gives me the right to post my opinions any where I so choose.. You noted the c class has a BIGGER SCREEN, I didn't...

Relax not being critical, note your 1st retort.. You took my opinions too personally like a fanboi etc..

And my point was correct. The screen with Command on a C or GLC is larger than one without command. If you took it that I was saying the C screen is larger than a S screen, you misinterpreted my comment.

Not being a fanboi. I like the screen, you don't. But coming here whether you've been on the forum for a long time or not, saying the screen is cheap and tacky can only serve to offend people who are waiting for their shiny new benz to come. All you really needed to say was you don't care for the screen. And even then what's the point in saying so? But you are most entitled to not like it. If I met you on the street and didn't like the shoes you chose to wear, should I tell you so?

Now we've wasted enough time and words on this, imho.
