Production to Delivery?

Holy cow mbglc, Why does it take so long? Does it have to do with size of the US vs. the Swiss market?
I once waited seven months for a car because the seats I wanted were not available. Finally, my patients expired and as I was dialing the dealer to cancel, my phone rang. It was the salesperson telling me my car had just been unloaded off the truck.
I ordered the GLC 23 Dec. It arrived in the port of Baltimore earlier this week. Don't know how long it will take to get it loaded on the truck but once that occurs am guessing will take two days to Dayton (union driver). So, if I'm lucky, should have a new shiny selenite gray GLC in my garage next week. If not, expect to see me whining here.![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

But I think anyway that it is too long waiting for a such car (prestige car).
But I still don't understand why in the USA you have plenty of serial options, which in Europe we must pay (like totally electric seats, ...)

I have long ago given up trying to figure out how cars are optioned, sold, priced ect.
Can't speak for Mercedes-Benz but it's not unusual in the US for an individual living in California to buy a car (Corvette) from a dealer in New Hampshire. And I notice folks are doing the same thing with the GLC. Someone in northern California ordering a GLC from a dealer in southern California. In most instances, when this happens, it's because one is able to negotiate a lower price. Or the distant dealer may have the exact car that the buyer cannot find in his local area.
The point I'm trying to make is, would it be possible, living in Switzerland, to order a car from a German or French dealer and pick it up in Germany/France or have it shipped home. Or, impossible, too complicated, illegal or just not doable?

It that case, it is possible, but it is worthless and complicated. Actually the cars are maybe a little cheaper in France/Germany, but all the formalities cost a lot of money.

To everybody, just go on http://mercedes-benz.ch and compare the price with the USA (keep in mind that 1$ worth 1 Swiss Franc) with the "build your own" system.

Somehow, not surprised by your response. Kind of figured too many obstructions, red tape, ect ect. So much for the EU.
I have an idea. Move to the US (your welcome to my guest bedroom). You can earn your keep by clearing snow from my driveway and sidewalk. Order a GLC. In about eight to ten weeks upon receipt of your new GLC, it and yourself can return home.
By the way my GLC has been received and is being prepped for delivery. I've seen it and my initial impression is that it's a great great vehicle. Even the dealer's employees are impressed. Just thought you like to know.

I thought about adding the expression brown with my Selenite Grey color too.. But I guess when I was ordering at the dealer I fell in love with the black that was inside the Selenite Grey.. Even though I'm getting tired of black interiors... I wanted the open pore black ash and I felt like the feeling was right. They just didn't have Lighting Package, Night Package and other things I wanted.. But in my mind I was starting to put my build together as to what I wanted after seeing that Selenite Grey with black.

Confirmed with the dealer mine is at stage B1...scheduled to enter production the last 10 days of Feb. I should have it end of March sometime depending on how long the transit/hand-offs are.

Ordered ours on 29th Nov, build date was Jan 7th with shipping date from Bremerhaven on 17th. We got a VIN from the dealer, found which vessel it was on and tracked it. The ship should unload ours on 27th Feb so we expect it 2 weeks later. When I checked with the dealer on Jan 20 he said delivery for new cars was out to June. that's AU time. As fas as where they are made, I read somewhere that it's Bremen, but if demand requires they have a facility in Norway.

You need to call your dealer and ask what ship your car is on. He can tell you. You can then track ship using fleetmon or marine traffic. If your car is on a a Wallenius Wilhemsen ship you can enter your vin on their site and see if it was released at port.
