GLC niggles, complaints and advice

Another small criticism of the ambient lighting. The lighting on the doors is much brighter than that around the dash/console. So if you turn it up bright so that the dash/console light is at a good level, the door lights are too bright. They should be more balanced.

Joe, If this condition is of concern to you, you may want to ask your dealer to check your vin. This process was used to determine that my drivers side glass which was not acoustic, should have been acoustic.
Can't say for sure but believe this specialty glass is tied to an option package. The problem is don't know which one.

Being that I have just about every package available on the car (maybe all), I would think mine should have it. However, I don't have any issues with noise so I probably won't pursue anything. I'll have to have my wife weigh in and see if she has issues with the level of noise but it seems very quiet to me. The most noise is being transmitted through the tires like you normally hear from run flats even though I know these are EM tires. You still get that same sound when hitting bumps and cracks in the road though probably more muted with the EM tires.
EDIT:
Yes, I have every package. The only features I didn't get were:
-hitch (unavailable due to hands free hatch)
-wheel locks
-sunshades
-chrome door handle inserts
-heated rear seats
-heated steering wheel (unavailable due to interior color)
-running boards

I understand. Happy wife, happy life, as they say.
I've made two long trips with my vehicle and, like you, am very satisfied with the level of interior noise. But, having experienced extensive exposure to running jet engines, my hearing is pretty much kaput.
Getting the driver's acoustic glass installed next week. Will let the forum know it there is a discernible reduction in noise.
I know about tire noise...loud noise. My Vette has 335/25ZR 20 run flats on the rear. The word noisy is inadequate. Conversation is conducted at the shouting level. :discuss:

The concern with brake dust, other than appearance, is its corrosive and if not removed frequently will permanently ruin the finish on the wheel.
Perhaps MB has an alternative (ceramic) less dusting pad?
On my other vehicle with a severe brake dust problem I solved it by going to an aftermarket Carbotech 1521 pad.
In the meantime, keep them wheels clean.

Surprised, not a problem on my GLC.

Niggle, need design change. Drink holders in rear centre arm rest..... Might be ok for a large water bottle or may be a can of soft drink, utterly useless for a take away coffee to hold and secure, ahhh ! Bad for adult to use, terrible for a child.... ,!
Looks nice design, but utterly useless from functionality. Please fix on mid life upgrade.

Here is my list
1) I don't like how the car decides when to turn off your air recirculation
2) the auto on/off at stops bugs me. I don't like how it just won't remember your last setting. Sometimes you make a stop sign stop and car just shuts off.. seems like a waste
3) The transmission can be jerky in C mode as covered in an other thread.

Another niggle from Oz.
Our Lexus has easy out with the driver seat retreating when you stop to get out, giving you more room to exit. We thane the Comfort pack on GLC and we cannot make the rest retreat on exit, may be a "war stopper" for SWMBO to buy when her Lexus comes off lease later this year. ( She Who Must Be Obeyed ! ) lol.

Mine doesn't seem to do the comfort exit either (it's turned on) though I have plenty of room to get in and out without it.

Only the steering wheel moves for easy entry/exit. On a previous Mercedes of mine (04 C-Class) the seat did push back -- sometimes annoyingly into the knees of tall rear seat passengers if I exited before they did. Perhaps this is why Mercedes nixed that function.

I came from a Lexus and the Easy Exit was one of my favorite features. I thought I was really going to miss the seat going back but, I don't. Plenty of room to get in and out and at least the steering wheel does move up out of the way. I had to always let the person out of the back seat before I got out or they would get pinned in. Nice not worrying about that anymore.

I have created my own Easy Exit/Entrance capability. In seat memory position two, I have programmed in my most comfortable DRIVING position, up fairly high, everything within reach, etc.
In seat memory position one, I have programmed a good ENTER/EXIT position, seat all the way down, farther back, steering wheel forward, etc.
It works great; the only downside is before exiting the GLC, I have to hold down seat memory button one, until it reaches its intended position. That takes 7 or 8 seconds; no big deal. After seating myself on my return, I of course have to hold down button two until in my driving position.
I did the same thing on my 2012 ML for the last four years, so I am used to it.

Does anyone have an update on the windshield wiper chatter? I've been to the dealer 6 times and all they've done is polish the windshield and replace the wipers and the issue keeps coming back. This has been ongoing since February of 2016.
My kids had the same issue. I realized when they used their thumb they were also holding the door handle which I believe confused the car as it thought they were attempting to open the door. When you use your thumb, do you also hold the inside part of the door handle?
Does anyone have problems with locking the car using your thumb over the locking sensor on the door handle?
Both my wife and I never seem to be able to lock the car using our thumb and only works with a finger. Bit temperamental and would ask MB to consider this for future models.

I'm still working with my dealer and MB Australia to try and get an outcome. Mine are still terrible despite visiting numerous times and having windscreen polished etc. Where about's are you based?

Good luck. I'll keep you in the loop if they ever figure out a way to fix it permanently.

My driver side wiper seems to drag a bit more in spots making it stutter a bit but doesn't make any noise and does a nice job wiping the water off. I'm more worried that it's stressing the wiper motor to cause eventual premature failure though I'm leasing and warranty would cover it for the entire time I will own it.
