I just hit the area in front of that button with the side of my hand, there is a sensor in there. Works every time.

Both my wife and I never seem to be able to lock the car using our thumb and only works with a finger. Bit temperamental and would ask MB to consider this for future models.

My vehicle can be locked by touching the vertical (painted) part of the handle anywhere except within about two inches from each end of the handle. The lock will actuate by using a finger, palm, back of hand or even a forearm.

Didn't check the passenger door locking mechanism.

No issue with mine at all...very effective. Noticed that car will not lock from outside if key is inside.

I have a tendency to try to press the button as this is what I have to do on my car.
I will try to run my hand past it in future.
Cheers Guys.

has anyone noticed a mechanical noise coming from the dash area when the car is sitting at an intersection in eco mode with the engine off? it sounds like a small motor is running inside the center console. its very odd and mildly annoying when everything else is whisper quiet...

More than likely the turbo-charger. Just a thought.

I also hear something running. Am guessing its the hvac fan.

I sure hope its not the turbo as that means it's spooling down sans oil pressure.

Would be no different then driving into your garage and shutting the car off, it still spools down sans oil pressure, these aren't old turbos that need cooling off periods before shutting the engine off.

Anyways, that noise is probably related to the HVAC system, like the blower.

Shut off AC and see if you can still hear the noise.

after some testing i confirmed that the noise is coming from the command system i shut the car down but left power on and turned off the fans and the noise is still there but once i turn off the system the sound disappears immediately.

Just opening the door causes the vehicle to make all kinds of clicking, whirring noises.

Try standing just outside the GLC when it is turned off. It sounds like a scene from the movie Brazil.

I had encountered this also... i thought it was the cooling fan for the Comand console as per the vents behind the screen

It's hilarious apple can make an iphone with all its power fanless, and Mercedes can't figure out how to make a rather weak by comparison computer system without a loud *** fan.

I think the car just has a very good airtight seal. You can close the door easily by cracking open a window just a little. So, it's actually a good thing.

Hi, an additional update from an Aussie site re windscreen shudder with wipers
Crocodile writes...
There should be a recall on this issue!

OK guys so here is the latest on the ongoing saga of the juddering windscreen wipers. I suspect i am the most progressed with this issue with the dealer but if anyone else has any info to share that would be incredibly helpful.

So the following has been done to the car so far (over the course of a couple of months and several drop offs):

1. Polish the windscreen with a fine powder by a glass specialist and wiper blades replaced (was told it should be OK but subsequently it wasn't)

2. Polish the windscreen again with the same stuff by the glass specialist and wiper blades replaced (again was told it was tested and seemed OK but post pickup it wasn't)

3. Angle of wiper blades to the windscreen was adjusted by dealer (didn't resolve)

4. Mercedes Benz HO AU become involved and advise that the angle of the wiper to the glass needs to be measured using a special tool that can be ordered via spare parts. Angle is measured and found to be within tolerance. Was also given a bottle of MB Intensive Window cleaner which is like a glass polish that can be used occasionally (dealer suggested maybe every 6 months or so). This was just on Monday when i picked the car up again. At the time was told that all was fine and today i have already got juddering again.

Below are a couple of videos. First one is in normal speed and then one in slo mo. If you turn the volume up on normal speed you will hear it. Slo mo clearly shows the juddering.

https://vimeo.com/163115725

https://vimeo.com/163115759

FYI the dealer i've been working with is MB North Shore (Sydney).

Hopefully this is helpful for other owners. Guys i strongly believe we all have to keep pushing this with our dealers and MB. They are only going to take notice once we are all complaining.
Hope this helps.

I would bet they are going to try to replaced the entire wiper assembly arms, if that fails, new windshield.

Please keep us posted Teckno - I am about to head back to the dealer for the second round of this issue. I'm located in Melb so will see whether the approach is similar to what you've experienced...

For what it is worth...

I brought my GLC home on the 5th of April. It rained that day and several days after. Having read about this issue on mbworld, I was a little concerned.

It turned out that when my wipers were operating, they were whisper quiet and smooth. So the problem isn't inherent.

Just got back from an extended drive and the car exhausts me. Eye strain thru windshield, jerky transmission, sway, and nothing is user friendly... easier to just pull up my phone and ask it. Constantly readjusting the seat. I'm glad this is my wife vehicle and not my primary driver. Disappointed with this purchase.
