Side Step order for GLC

Anyone thinking of adding a sidestep to your GLC? , well I will! , but I´m afraid i cant install it, every X253 should fit it? , i really like the look of it.

They look great, but in reality they are not functional.
You tend not to use them, due to seat height and distance from ground, too awkward.
You tend to lift you foot and leg past them, making getting out more difficult. You also run the risk of water, mud and dirt rubbing off the side step to your clothing as you get in or out.
Worse for anyone with leg, knee or hip issues. Not sure how kids get on with it ?
So choose carefully, be careful for what you wish for.
Try using someone's else car first. As I said, great looking.

I saw these on a GLC on the dealer's lot and the first thing that came to mind was - Add on!. For some reason they don't seem to go with the GLC. Maybe on a heavier duty SUV.

IMO they do add to the finish of an SUV and look great. We had them added to our factory order and no regrets. Yes they do rub against you clothes when getting out of the vehicle, but a good reason to keep the car clean.
They are functional when washing the car especially whilst getting to the middle of the Panoramic roof with the wash mitt.

I agree. Repeatedly sending trousers to dry cleaning shop to remove muck as a result of rubbing against them while getting in and out of the vehicle.

They do, in a way, enhance vehicle appearance.

For me the running boards make the GLC more 'SUV' like and a bit more aggressive looking!

I agree with Teckno's comments.

The only time I find them useful is when washing the vehicle.

They're great for putting things up on the rack, but otherwise, yeah...never get used.

One of the reasons we are buying a GLC is that it will (hopefully) see us into our 70s and it seems very easy to climb in and out. The demo car had side steps and it would have stopped us placing an order, had they been compulsory, as they require a bit more effort to haul yourself past them, especially if you want to keep your trousers clean! Horses for courses, but they are definitely not for us

As someone who has the sidesteps (they are standard in Australia) I have to say it is a difficult call to make - they are definitely inconvenient, as they make the car harder to get in and out of. That having been said, and I don't usually like sidesteps, I think they look fantastic on this car and really improve its posture.

These serve no practical purpose on the GLC. I am familiar with the dirt issue on a previous SUV I owned years ago. You will definitely get your pants dirty getting in and our of the vehicle. I was my vehicle weekly, but if you drive to wrik in the rain, when you get out your pants will likely get wet and dirty.

OEM vs Nerf running boards

Hello - I was just wondering if the dimensions of the OEM and Nerf running boards are the same? I have noticed some look wider than others... thanks in advance ..
