Air Pressures?

Mercedes puts the maximum load pressures on the door jamb but has additional pressures for normal load on the gas tank lid.

Car was delivered from factory with maximum load pressure which for 20's is

F 35 R 42 Max Load
F 32 R 32 Normal Load

I think this was way to high but the normal load was on the low side so I set 35 all around, what are you guys running?

follow the guide in the gas door...if my memory is correct, it calls for 32 all the way around when not heavily loaded. There's another thread or two on here on the subject.

Mine was delivered with 40F 42R. I changed it to 32 all the way around and now it rides beautifully.

The dealerships seem to over-inflate the tires for delivery, for whatever reason. Maybe they think it gives a firmer ride or maybe to improve MPG.

I believe they are shipped that way...the prep people just seem to overlook correcting the over-inflation.

Maybe the air in Germany is different and measures differently

Someone said (and it made sense) that they intentionally overfill them for transport but I don't recall the exact reason.

Because they could sit in transit for some time it's better to over inflate them. If they were all at 32 and then lost some air over the course of the month(s) transport then that could damage the tires. Sticking them at 42 or so gives MB a bit more leeway!

Actually MB factory spec is 47 lbs for shipping, to prevent flat spots if the vehicle is kept in inventory for long periods. Part of the dealer prep is to adjust the inflation to the proper pressure - in the case of our GLC set to 32 lbs all around as per the gas door decal.

Understand the need to overinflate tires while vehicle is in transit. What I don't understand is the dealers inability to adjust tire pressure as part of pdi.

Like most everyone else here my tires were at 45+ psi the first time I checked them.

Is that 32 cold?

@Ddmacormack: Yes, all tire pressures listed in the gas door for all MB vehicles are cold pressures.
