Accessory Roof Spoiler?

I'm curious if anyone has ordered this option for their GLC300?
Looking at the pictures of this spoiler compared to the stock unit,
it doesn't look like it's that different, except it add's more nooks to
clean out when detailing the car.
Anybody out there with experience with this?
Jack

I didn't order this option, but it came with my GLC. I'm not sure what function it serves. You are correct, it adds a couple of fins under the stock spoiler. Heck, even my SA and others at the dealership really didn't know how it changes things.

I suspect that it might prevent an "under swirl" from occurring, but so what does that accomplish? Since I don't have access to a GLC without one, I can't compare. I am curious too though.

"Airflow" in a perfect world less back swirling/dirt rear hatch... but frankly all-in-all a cosmetic thing

Yeah, that's what I'm kinda thinking it's design intent is, but really,
probably just more looks than function.
Thought I'd ask. I've got three plus months to kill before mine gets built;
spending way too much time looking at all the extra little options available.

I wish it was more aggressive. Looks too busy to me with the way it is now.

I too have another 6-8 weeks for arrival of my GLC300. And, although my SA doesn't know the purpose of the accessory, he's ordering it for delivery. I'll monitor here for any updates on the function. The option # might be 105.

We ordered the optional spoiler but from looking on MB website the we are having second thoughts. I wish we could see pictures side by side to compare. We are not sure what it looks like it's not clear. We are thinking of canceling the optional spoiler ($350) and going with the stock one. I don't mind paying for something that extends out and looks sporty but it this case I don't know what I'm looking at. Any thoughts ?

Ours came on ours since it had most of the items we wanted. Honestly, it's not a visual thing. I suspect it does something with the aerodynamics, but not sure what difference it makes with/without. It really is only a couple of fins underneath the stock spoiler that every GLC gets. So, I'd pocket the cash...spend it on the chrome handle inserts or just save it for gas to enjoy some extra miles in your new ride.

I walked the lots to see which one had the option and which didn't. Finally found one an truly the only difference on the $350 spoiler to the eye are air vents flanking the brake light (didn't see anything that would qualify as a "fin"), which ostensibly helps push wind over the roof for aerodynamic benefit. Still, I have no idea how much difference this could possibly make over the one that is standard, but it cannot be much. For that alone, it is not important to me especially given the option charges for the things I DO want.

Got mine with the "spoiler". I know something about aerodynamics, but I don't see it, unless the lift under each part blows off the rear window.

Is this something similar on the Cayenne?

Kinda looks out of place. But does add some lines/character.

I looked at both, and decided spending the extra money was worth it. I think it looks a lot better for not a lot of money. My opinion...
