GLC43 winter tire plans??
For the folks with 21" wheels on their GLC43s, what is everyone planning to do for winter? I can't imagine the stock contisports will do well in snow? Was thinking of buying a set of winter rims and tires but unsure if the smaller stock GLC wheels will clear the AMG calipers. Thoughts?

I think you are right that 18s/17s will struggle - front brake calliper/size is always the issue. I think that the recommended size is 235/55 R19 - square set up. I found this recommended on a German dealer site and also found this from MB Canada.

I've just bought a set of Pirelli Scorpions in that size on MB wheels and being fitted this morning so can report back.
MB can be a bit funny when asked about non-AMG kit on AMG cars - which is simply bull designed to get you to spend more on AMG branded kit.
I've played safe with MB GLC wheels (albeit not "AMG") and "MOE" MB approved tyres.

Update.
I've fitted the wheel tyre combo shown below and no issues.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Original-Merc...sAAOSw-0xYRD~U
I really like the "Himalayan grey" wheels for a winter look.
The Pirelli Scorpion Winters are run flat and 235/55 R19 all round whereas the summer set are Michelin Latitude Sport non-RF and staggered.
Can't say I've noticed any difference in ride and the thinner wheels at the back look fine - albeit not as "mean" as the wider summers which do look really good.
I think any of the GLC 19x8 wheels (ET38) will be fine on the GLC43 and there are 20 options.

I can't comment on how MB interpret their warranty in the US but I think you'll find that the AMG 19 twin spokes (square fit) are an approved fitment in Germany for winter use in any event - see below.

Are you sure ? Are they MB wheels?
My winter set at the front are exactly the same size as the wheels and tyres it came with as standard in the UK (19s)- so unsurprisingly do clear the calipers.
Had them on all last winter without any problem.
I doubt that the calipers in the US are a different spec. Also there are people posting on here from the US who have put 19s on successfully.
That's what I have below and no issues -

Thanks gobiman,
I just checked with the dealer and my tire store; the rims I ordered wouldn't fit despite being the exact OEM 19" size (19" x 8" with 38mm offset) BUT it appears that this is rim specific and mine were aftermarket "Apex" wheels. MB recommends (and quoted me) for 19" winter wheels and tires so clearly this is an issue with the specific wheels I ordered (spoke shape and caliper clearance) and not due to them being 19"
The takeaway from all this is that the 19" MB wheels work, aftermarket ones may or may not depending on the style of wheel. One fellow with a 43 successfully installed a set of BBS wheels with no issues. I will post the brand and model of the new set that I just ordered (once I've confirmed fitment) so that people have an option instead of the $$$$ MB 19" wheels.
Cheers,
Dave

MB Canada tire site suggests a tire/rim 19" package for my 2018 GLC43. Comments suggest 19" won't work. I assume that since MB has spec'd the rims that they will fit with no issue for clearance from the brakes?

As per my post #9 above: the MB 19" wheels will work on the 43; aftermarket wheels (even with the same size and offset) may not.

I just had 19 inches rims and "alternate" size winter tires installed. The 19 inches rims cleared front calipers without any problem.
I went with 255/50/19 Michelin X-ice 2 tires.

I just swapped out the tires on my new GLC43 for Pirelli Scorpion All Season Plus, 265/40 front and 295/35 rear. Fitment is good without rubbing issues and no complaining from traction control or anything like that yet. Fingers crossed, but I think that this is a good combination.

I learnt a lot more about wheel geometry than I ever wanted to know when I switched from 20" to 19" on my GLC. Short version: if you're buying non-MB wheels then the MB offset numbers do not apply. The offset number will different to the MB wheels of the same size and will generally be less. You can see this by looking at the range of wheels available for the GLC on TireRack, and seeing how much the offset numbers vary. You need to find a dealer who understands what is needed for your vehicle and what fits.

Enkei TY-5 (19x8.5, 42mm offset) fit fine on my 2018 GLC43. I'm running 3mm spacers up front and 5mm spacers in the rear to keep the inside suspension clearance at stock distances, but they clear everything fine without the spacers as well. Wrapped in Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 (255/50R19) tires.

20" Pirelli Scorpion Winters
I'm considering Pirelli Scorpion Winters from Costco and put on my existing stock 20" wheels. 285/40R20 for the back, 255/45R20 for the front. They're not run flats, but all in would cost $2,200 (CDN) and save me from buying a second set of wheels.
Would it be better to have 255/45R20 for all four tires? That would be cheaper at about $1,800 (CDN) incl tax and install.

Not sure about Costco but they probably only do regular tires. I just picked up my 2018 GLC43 yesterday and I had the dealer install the MB winter tire package - MB rims and Scorpion Winter 19 inch. It also included TPMS sensors. It just made it way easier to do it that way for me. They do look pretty good - will have to wait until spring to see the 21"s that came with the car.

Do any of you know what offset I should be looking for when buying a set of wheels for a GLC43?
It does not say anything on the official winter tires package.
Wouldn't the rear wheels stick out less if I put the same 4 wheels with same offset front and rear? I am trying to keep the summer look in winter.
