GLC 300 Coupe Advice

Just purchased one Christmas Eve and really love it. However' it came with 19" wheels and it makes the car look a bit "dinky". From behind the tires look way too skinny. I really liked the look of the 20" multispoke wheels and am wondering what specs you all recommend? I know nothing about this stuff and could use some help.

Congrats on your purchase, I love the stock 20" and those are the ones I ordered (come standard with the interior and exterior sport/night packages) for mine.

Can you post pictures of yours?

I think the "93R" and "684" rims look the best - https://tools.mercedes-benz.co.uk/cu.../glc-coupe.pdf (page 25-26)

I'm getting the 92R for sure but have no idea about what other dimensions I can get. I want the tires to be wider looking from behind. Any suggestions?

Sacha Ferrandi: You said you're getting the 92R wheels. They come with 285mm tires in the rear. That's the biggest that Mercedes offers on that car. You think 285mm is "skinny"?

Page 26 of the PDF that zhenyaf posted earlier. Tire sizes are listed in the first column. (For the record: zhenyaf posted the correct page number as well.)

The wheels shown in your picture are code 93R (not 92R). Same size tires though.

Thanks Frosty. Are those numbers on page 26 the maximum sizes that wheel works with? So you could get 275s in the rear too?

No, those are the sizes of the tires that are mounted on those wheels: 255mm in front, 285mm in the rear. I guess you could consider them "recommended" sizes.

Tires - being flexible - can fit on a range of wheel widths. What that range is, however, is dependent on the model of tire. (The specifications for the tires should say.) Since you know the wheel you want (93R) you need to find the exact width of the *wheel* and then find the widest tire that will fit that.

The best thing for you to do would be to find the width of the 92R wheels, then go to a tire retailer (tirerack.com for example, if you're in the US) and tell them you want the widest tire that will fit on that wheel. They can recommend a tire that meets your specifications safely.

That said, why you'd want a tire wider than 285mm in the rear is beyond me. That's pretty damn wide for a tire!

You are going to be surprised. Whilst the 20 is standard on the Australian 250s (i.e. 300 in USA), settled on the no cost option of 19s. The reason being the ride on 55 profiles of the 19 inch rims are considerable more comfortable than the 20. Yes the 20s may look better, but from the drivers seat, the 19 are a better choice for every day driving.

Why does it need a point? If someone likes it they like it.

IMO, most coupes sacrifice some practicality..no exception here... But for many, it makes it up with looks.
