GLC 43 AMG Stock Radio Suggestion

Hi


Just picked up 2017 GLC 43 AMG - had the premium 1 package - the stock sound system is AWFUL!


I can't believe how bad it is for a 60K car.


Anyhow, does anyone have suggestions? I installed a bazooka bass tube in an old GTI a few years back and it did the trick - not sure the wiring on these GLCs.

I would recommend going to a good car audio shop to change the speakers. I did many custom audio system for a couple of my old cars. Sounds amazing. I don't know which speakers would fit the GLC43 AMG, I know some people mentioned focal speakers in previous posts.

Not to worry, the solution to poor sound is relative simple and inexpensive. Remove the 2 front door speakers and replace with the Focal ES100K 2 way component speaker kit; consisting of 2 woofers, 2 tweeters and 2 adjustable crossovers. You will need the assistance of a professional to tune the system. The speakers have a high sensitivity out put which means very good clarity and depth; especially for listening to voice, instruments and classical. Use the system for about 20 hours. If you then want further improvement, do the same to the rear doors and if strong bass is your preference, install a Focal sub- amp.

Thanks for the suggestions. The car is a lease, so I don't want to put too much $$ into it. Someone at Best Buy showed me a few options (I know Best Buy is not a true car audio place but it's better than the stock option).

Install a kicker 8" amplified hideaway sub ($200) in the trunk under the lift up panel.

Install an Alpine power pack (mini amp, $100) - fits in the glove compartment.

Maybe upgrade the speakers to something a little better than stock?

I would also give the sound system a lot more time to break in. You may be surprised how much it might improve after 100-200 hours of playing music. The electronics need to burn in and the speakers more importantly, woofers need to stretch out. That and pushing the tone controls. Regards. Ned.

It's not the burmester - it has 2 tweeters up front and one very small speaker in each door (4 total). Might have a sub somewhere but can barely hear or feel it.

While searching the forum I read your post - I have a 2006 C230 (CL230 in Canada) The sound from radio , cd and iPhone is just plain cheap sounding - Do you think by just replacing the door speakers would be a satisfying solution? I was considering to add two additional speakers on the rear shelf (it's a two door coupe).

Speakers are usually the most important aspect of a stereo system. So it is essential that replacement component speakers are of a higher quality. Assuming your car has cheap speakers, just replacing the front with Focal or another high sensitivity brand should enhance the sound quality after 20 plus hours of use. But if boosting bass is the objective, you may need to also upgrade the amp, etc. Suggest you first try the recommended Focal, and if you are not still happy, then tackle the rear speakers, etc. Good luck.
