Mid City Engineering: Eco Off
Anyone have any experience with this?

Can I buy it and get my dealer to install?

I'm sure you can code the module to have it default off. Just need to find someone with the right equipment to change the coding and also risk losing your warranty for modifying the module, but if you're wiring in switches I'm sure a dealer could deny a claim based off that. I might take a look once mine arrives and see what coding options might be available.

Look... all the chitty-chitty-chat aside - if it bugs you and you don't want to adapt - then the Mid-City is the hardwire fix.. "recode moduel" ... "will they change it in later models"... basic answer NO..

Not sure that is accurate and after I read your response I thought more about it. My original thought is it was in a comfort module of sorts, but I'm thinking it is probably in the ECM. I personally have no experience changing module's coding from what the original module had e.g. setting parameters different in a 3 series door module so DVDs will play all the time even when moving. However, I know it can be done. I've personally have only done original coding i.e. one for one replacement. That being said I have done PCM tuning on other cars, specifically Mustangs, where I can turn all kinds of crap off (e.g. various sensors, engine functions, etc) It all depends where the start stop is located and how the software is setup. I wouldn't dismiss it so quickly; however, you very well could be right and a tune is going to cost much more than $200.

So, does this just keep the eco function in last position or does it keep the last entire setting in place? If it's just the s/s function, that gets one a part of the way there. Having it default to last setting is more useful for me.

No 4 hour rule on US GLCs. The mid city engineering device is switch that turns off the eco and leaves it off. I do not believe it keeps your car in the previous mode used.
