Perhaps it was my camera or the lighting but the tire is new in appearance and has never touched the ground, it will get tried on during the first tire rotation I do, but I do appreciate your keen eye and technical input though.

I did not mean that tire "looks" old as much as production date mostly likely is old. What is DOT?

Here is mine fitted on the front of Canadian 2018 GLC300, clears the calipers without problems. Also test fitted on rear, no issues

18" space saver on front of 2018 GLC.

Does going through all these hassle to get a spare tire and get it fitted in the vehicle worth it? Why just don't you guys call the Mercedes Canada and get them to either fix the flat or tow the car to the nearest dealer for free if the car still has a warranty?

My cabin has no landline or cell reception and I don't have a sat phone so calling for a tow can be difficult. Its really a personal decision based on your own usage and needs. I like the security of being able to fix my tire at midnight in the middle of nowhere and be on my way in less than 15 mins.

Yes then in your case it makes sense for sure.

Thanks a million times for putting this debate to bed once and for all, not that I don`t like hearing from all the Kibitzers out there, so one last time, it is the skinny MB "donut" spare that does not fit on the front of this vehicle, an appropriate sized collapsible MB spare fits just fine, Amen

Not exactly correct. Its 18" ML350 donut spare, part # 164-400-00-02, that per Fred9x's post above doesn't not fit the front of GLC300 with silencers (those GLC300s without front silencers, if any, should be OK).

However, 19" ML63/GLE63/GL550 19" donut spare, part # 164-400-01-02, does fit front with plenty of room left. Of course instead of 155/90-18 tire, 155/80-19 is required.

I purchased a A1644000002 on Ebay that came from a 2012 ML350. It is at least 3.5" taller than the tires on my 2017 GLC300 Coupe (with 19" wheels). It looks like it will fit, but that is a significant difference in diameter. Not sure if would be good to run it. It probably has a different size tire mounted on it than those posted here.

Both W166 and GLC300 use close to identical about 29" diameter tires. What is the tire size of the tire mounted on A1644000002 wheel?

Which means that p/n that you bought on eBay is 1644000102 (19" wheel) not p/n 1644000002 (18" wheel) in your original post. This wheel/tire is most likely from GL550 (not ML350) and is less than 2" taller (not 3.5"), but regardless you can not use this tire on GLC. You will need to buy 155/80-19 donut tire, $170 at the TireRack. The good part is that with this 19" wheel once mounted with 155/80-19 tire, you're guaranteed to clear front brakes of any GLC, excluding AMGs.

You are correct. The eBay seller clearly stated it was an A1644000002 from a 2012 ML350. It is stamped A1644000102. I have contacted the seller. Thanks for your help.

Based on your advice, I'll going to make my own spare tire by using wheel 1644000002 and 155/80-19 tire. Which tire bolts and valves would you recommend?

Thanks

You mean 1644000102 (19") right? For temporary spare, you need "short" (sometime listed as 27mm, sometimes as 28mm) MB OEM (or aftermarket) R14 ball/radius seat bolts and a regular rubber valve.

Edit: For 1644000002 (18") wheel, you need 155/90-18 tire.

Thank you for the fast turnaround. Yes, I meant 1644000102. The GLC has by sport package, so the front calipers are significantly larger compared to the rear ones. That’s why I’m going with the 19” rim. Thanks a lot!

Got the correct tire and wheel. Perfect size and fits in cargo area like it was meant to be. Thanks again.

I tried the 1644000102 and it does not fit in the front. The model I’ve comes with the sport package, so the brake caliper is much larger in the front compared to the one in the back.

Any other suggestion?

19" not fitting? Sorry, but it is impossible - it is OEM spare for ML63AMG. Have you seen those front calipers?

Do you think it has to do with the bolts I used? Since I haven’t received the 26/27mm, I used the regular ones just to try it on. As I rotated the wheel, the caliper left a slight mark on the back of the rim.

Tomorrow I’ll receive adequate nuts. I’m hoping this will solve the problem and will rotate without scratching the rim.

Really hoping it will work. Haven’t purchased the tire since I wanted to make sure the rim will fit.

NEWS FLASH!

Rim 1644000102 does not fit on a GLC with sport package. See images below:

Notice the scratch around the rim from rotating it. The caliper scratched the rim.

IF ANYONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIND ONE RIM THAT FITS THE GLC WITH SPORT PACKAGE or GLC43 or GLC63, please let me know. I’m a little desperate at this point.

As long as spare rim clears sides of the caliper at the barrel (it sounds like they do), by using a wheel spacer you can "move" spare wheel away from the caliper so it does not touch. Try 3mm or even 5mm spacer first - if it still touches, then 13mm or 15mm (do not forget longer bolts, spare uses 27mm, so add accordingly; fyi: with 15mm spacer, you can use your stock 45mm bolts).

MLs do run much higher offsets.
