Here's a link to a parts list showing your 18" spare wheel and # 000 990 83 7 "wheel bolt" spare.
https://parts.smithmercedesdealer.co...ension--wheels
I read your wheel being 4 inches wide. Is that correct? What will be its diameter with the tire? 29"?
If so, I think it will fit under the back floor of my MY2019 GLC300 4matic. :-))
Thanks

Thanks Fred - I don't know - but will measure it up with pics when I get it back early next week. These bolts are going to be the death of me. There are so many part numbers it's goofy. I think I'm going to go with Plan A and order what benzoemparts said which is a kit for 220 400 01 70 ... I finally spent some time going deep on Google and this time went through images. It appears after all that it is a set of 5 correct screws for a steel wheel. Here is a better site showing it in the UK: https://www.amcarparts.co.uk/car-s-3...number-339716/
Also - here is a site for the G wagen that explains why one screw versus another (other than just the length aspect). I learned something there today - the fact that steel wheels need a different seat on the screw head. http://www.rubicon-trail.com/G-Class/wheels/bolts.html
So - we'll see. Ordering the kit now and hoping it will be here quickly.

peet, you are making progress.
Thanks for your update.
I don't need the width of the wheel as much as I (and you) need to know if the wheel fits beneath the back floor of our GLC300 4matic and we can fully close/lock the floor.
Look forward to your next post!
Thanks

Fred - just a quick update. IT FITS IT FITS!... I'll post a full writeup in a new thread (copy it here) so it can be pinned if admins want. I am still awaiting the correct bolts to have the complete picture though. As of now I have rim, tire, toolkit. I'll post pics and part #s. All in - toolkit, tire, rim and bolts was just shy of $600 (or roughly the same price as the GLC fat spare alone). The upside - all the parts are brand new, especially the tire. No worries about dry rot. Be back as soon as I can with details.

Fred - just an FYI - I still haven't gotten my bolts. I hope I'm not holding you up with the parts you need. If you are waiting, shoot me a PM with your email and I'll send you my pics and numbers to get you started before I can post it all in one post. I'll be on business for a week so no matter what, even if these things arrive in the next few days, I won't get to posting a full writeup for a bit. Just didn't want to keep you waiting around.

Big thanks to "peet" for posting that the spare tire fits uner the floor in the cargo area, I moved ahead and bought the items listed below.
The good news is that spare tire fits under the cargo area floor. I have to push the floor down with a little pressure to the make the latch click. I am rationalizing that such a tight fit means the tire and wheel won't be moving around.
BUT the bad news is that the spare does NOT fit well on the front axle because of the "caliper silencers". So,, as of now, if I a flat front tire, I will need to move a rear tire to the front and put the spare on the rear.
I had never heard of caliper silencers but the Tirerack sales guy said "they were added to the new Chevy Camaro." edit I now realize that the brake silencers are part of the pad per photo below.. So I may investigate if I can use pads without the silencers. .
The Tool Bag at $80 seems to be a great deal. The jack looks like the one listed for $200 and also included is a lug bolt guide
Spare wheel 18x4 $314 online oem part # 164-400-00-02
Tire T155/90D18 Tirerack $129.41
Tire valve $5 oem part # 000-400-29-12-64
Wheel Bolts (M14x1.5x26mm) – I bought eEuroparts.com sku 18913. I think oem part# is 0009908307
Tools, including jack, for changing Spare tire, $81.90 oem part # 166-580-69-00

here's a photo of spare. Like I said, it's tight but the latch does catch/close.
Shorter bolts are needed because the "donut" steel spare is thinner than the regular alloy wheels.
Also unique is the tire valve. It is smaller than regular tire valves. My tire place said they couldn't get one and sent me back to the dealer who had to order one.

I needed different bolts for my after-market (full-sized) wheels. Needing different size bolts is not uncommon it seems when changing wheels. I assume all the full-size OEM ones use the same bolts.

Bolt issue relates to both length, due to centre hub positioning, being closer and need for steel bolts as rim is not aluminium, hence need for steel to bite or lock into rim interface, and not work loose........

Thanks Fred for wrapping this up a bit for me - my garage is still in a state of hell. Guess that's what happens when a car enthusiast gets involved in building one! I am hoping to finish electricity today to at least have light and a working opener then hanging it up for the winter. To be continued in spring with gas lines to the compressor and dedicated tool power.
Those silencers, I didn't see them on my 2018 - I actually put the rim on the front before getting a spare. So your mileage may vary. You may have some with that or some without. As Fred said - at worst you have to play a game of fit the spare on the rear, lower, raise front, put full size on front - drive home. I do recall that even without any silencers, it was close in there. That rim left millimeters of space between caliper and inside of the wheel.

When I was considering GLC, one thought was to see if the Vredestein Space saver compact spare (that I bought for my 2014 GLK250) would work on a GLC. Never got that far.
It is MB part number 204.400.98.00 and has a Vredestein 185/75-17 98 space saver collapsible tire. Wheel is 6.0 Bx17 H2 ET25. I have the short stud bolts. Never used the spare - except for peace of mind on long trips!
Anyone know if the spare can be used on other MB models?

Space for - Full Size Spare
I have a question to ask you all please. I have been looking closely into buying a GLC 2.2 Urban edition with 20 inch wheels etc but I really need a (full size spare) in my opinion fitted under the luggage compartment - which on face value at least is not possible. I have noticed that the liner in the trunk on the GLC is far from flat and made worse with a fuse box in an awkward position - just where it gets in the way. Has anyone removed the molded floor liner altogether and looked to see if the fuse box module can be moved to one side ? If both of these suggestions are taken into account - then maybe a (full size spare wheel) would fit into the trunk, never mind a space saver ? In terms of replacing the molded liner - that would not be an issue in my view with a thin piece of plywood shaped to suit/blocks etc to stiffen up and a thin carpet/cloth covering. Could easily be made to look presentable. Views please as to the total space with the liner out and fuse box moved to one side - Thankyou.

Ebay has quite a few of both spare tires and jack kits available and that is where I got mine from. The tire came from a salvage yard in Wisconsin and they accepted my best offer of $130 for it and the jack kit came from a salvage yard in California and they took my best offer of $95 for it. It came missing the tow hook and I was going to buy one but just found one in it`s holder in the trunk. Left side towards the rear is a plastic box of sorts where the jack goes, all the way in the back of that open box feature I found the tow hook, the only park of the jack kit they give you with the vehicle apparently, made my day to find it.

No I did not try putting it on the car yet but I did hold it next to an existing wheel and see no issues with caliper clearance as this is a full sized rim just like the original wheels have unlike the skinny donut style spare that MB also used in the past. From what I have read both types of MB spares the collapsible and the donut require the use of the shorter "spare-tire" lug-bolts. The salvage yard I got my tire from included the package of bolts with the spare tire and I got four more spare tire bolts from the salvage yard that I got the jack kit from included in the jack kit. As a scissor jack is recommended for this vehicle as opposed to the 45 degree MB jack that came with my jack kit I repurposed a scissor jack from a chrysler mini van that I had in my collection of scrap metal in my barn. I hope I never have to use any of it but I am old school I guess and I don`t like driving a vehicle without a spare tire in the trunk.
