I'm still looking for a good roof rack. One that allows the sun roof to fully open. Any one find one?

Wait. What? The OEM MB Roof rack prevents the Pano roof from opening? You've got to be kidding me. I was planning on ordering these. I suppose I will mainly use them for winter, so maybe I will not need to open the roof.

Yep, here it is:

https://www.rackattack.com/car-rack-...enz/glc-class/

You will need the following for the base rack:

Thule Aeroblade (black, small) #7601B
Thule Aeroblade (black, medium) 7602B
Thule Podium Fit Kit #4068
Thule 4-pack lock cores #544

The sunroof clears nicely and it is neither as tall nor as noisy as the MB one. I have a Yakima Highroad bike rack mounted on it. The lock cores are not required but are a good idea. Let me know if you need any other info, pics, etc.

May be possible if rails were positioned in slightly different position to where mine are, will be going back to dealers to see if they can do it next week.

From what I've read, I thought the MB cross rails actually have rubber "stops" built in that stop the Pano at a certain point. I wouldn't think you could bypass them.

Like MTBERMAN, I went with Thule. And, yes, the MB crossbars PREVENT the roof from opening. There are little rubber stobs that make the roof reverse when they contact the bars.

See these videos for a perfect fit roof rack for bikes:

That’s the front in the tightest spot possible. It will move forward some more and have plenty of clearance.

This is the rear mounted over the open glass and is less then 2mm clearance. But the rear one can easily be scooted back past the farthest point of the sunroof.

I’ve mounted the bike racks to it and it works like a champ!

Total price is right at $1000 and here’s the part numbers:
851-554-001 AeroBlade Edge crossbar (front) $229.95
851-554-002 AeroBlade Edge crossbar (rear) $229.95
Thule Fit Kit KIT4068 USD$ 109.95
Thule Circuit 526XT $159.95 (2, or however many bikes you need to carry))

I used the black Thule parts because I also got the Night Package on the GLC and all the black is cool.

Found fitting details in boot and can tilt but not open sunroof.

I have the same set-up as MTBERMAN but mine whistle above 25MPH. Is anyone else experience a whistle the AeroBlade Edge? Seems to be coming front bar so I'm trying to figure out where it should be positioned to eliminate or reduce the whistle.

A whistle noise at certain speeds is caused by a gap between two surfaces over which air flows when you're driving. It acts like a wind instrument and manifests as a whistle or moaning noise. The trick to resolving it is to find the gap and either eliminate it (put tape over it) or put something in front of it to move air around it instead of over it. The gap may be on the crossbars or it may be on whatever attachment you're using.

Also be sure the rubber stripping is inserted into all of the grooves per the crossbar instructions, and that it covers any gaps, end to end. Any gap in crossbar grooves that don't have attachments on them should have rubber stripping inserted in them, or else they may whistle. The bumps on the rubber stripping are there to disturb the airflow and thus prevent whistling.

I position mine as far back as possible to avoid wind noise. I can only go so far back because I carry my bike up there, and the rear door will hit my bike tire if the bike carrier is too far back.

Repeating the question above, any other solutions than the OEM one for roof rack? Or any websites that I can get the OEM one at a cheaper price compare to the dealer pricing?

Try Ebay. I bought a rack from Bridgewater, NJ Mercedes dealership for $280 and came to $335 with tax for both bars. I am not concerned with opening the pano-roof when I am going to be using the Mercedes Roof Carrier 400.
