Has anyone ordered Platinum White/Black designo Nappa Leather on their GLC?

My sister in law and I went to our local dealership last month to order her a GLC 300 coupe.

She loved the Platinum White / Black designo Nappa Leather Interior and decided it was worth the big bucks. We were hoping for October production with a November/December delivery. She got a call last week saying that they are not able to build this special interior until January, so she had 2 choices. Change the interior and forget about the Designo Nappa, or wait for January production, which means Feb/March Delivery.

Has anyone else had a problem ordering this interior? The dealership can't give a straight answer as to why there is a delay, our guy thinks it could be that they ran out of that leather and it will take some time to get more, or could be that because it is such a rare option on the GLC, that the factory may want to wait until there is at least a few of these orders and build them together? Who knows!

I ordered this interior with my GLC43 but have not had any indication from the dealer that there will be a delay. Build date was October 11th with delivery in late November. Guess I need to check with my dealer.

My 2018 GLC 300 4matic was ordered loaded will almost all options. Order placed in June, finally Arrived Long Beach end of Sept. Today Oct 12 is said to be in Land transit to my dealer in Beaverton Oregon. I think the change from premium packaging in 2017 model to no packages and all options independent is part of the delay, One might be better of picking what is on the lot.

I orginally had the designo nappa leather on my custom order. My salesman was putting the info into the computer and it popped up with a message saying this option will add 8 weeks to the build time, he showed it to me on his screen.

He went into great detail about the leather itself, but the bottom line was that it is hand stitched into the vehicle individually, unlike all the other seat options. This means there is an entirely separate process for the designo leather option after the car is built, hence the wait.

So your Nov/Dec delivery being pushed to Jan matches up with the 8 week additional build time I saw from the MB network.

And TBH, any dates GLC related is optimistic. I ordered my GLC in July and it still hasn't been delivered yet, even without the designo leather option.

When I did a build at the dealer I had no problem selecting designo white interior and no warning popped up. I couldn't get a heated steering wheel with though and ultimately that killed the deal. Ordered an SQ5 yesterday instead.

Thanks for the replies guys,

good point on heated the heated steering wheel, when we built it online prior to going in to order it. It would not allow me to add the heated steering wheel option for $250 bucks. But when the dealership built it, it let us add it. So the car should have it. I hope.

Were fhe the rest of you guys in this thread who ordered this interior get the heated wheel?

no heated steering wheel with that interior when I tried to get it (in Canada). After having the heated wheel in the GLK, there was no way I was going to pass up on it.

No I did not order the heated steering wheel but I could have added it. My understanding is that when you order the heated steering wheel, you cannot get the AMG Sports Leather steering wheel (flat bottom). That's the one I wanted.

Have you considered all-black Designo nappa interior instead?

I opted that for my GLC43 and it looks good (plus easier maintenance too)

That looks great, but I believe it would be the same sort of delay whether its black or white leather. And my sister in law prefers the white, at this point it is a January production either way so lets hope everything works out well for her.

My dealer says that delivery of my vehicle is still end of November and he did not indicate any delay because of the Platinum White selection.

Which dealer did you order from? I am guessing Thornhill (on Steeles Ave) based on your location

Also, when did you place the order?
Did you get heated steering wheel?

Yes I ordered my GLC43 from MB Thornhill and my order was finalized September 21st. Delivery is expected November 26th.

I did not order the heated steering wheel since I wanted the AMG steering wheel.

For those of you that ordered the Napa Leather white and black and have actually received your car I am worried about keeping it clean. Is it hard to keep clean? I am getting the leather protection and warranty but I don't want to spend all this money on a nice extra that won't stay nice loooking. Looking for some feedback.

I am still waiting for my GLC43 to be delivered (Platinum white leather) but my current E63 wagon has silk beige nappa leather which is a light colour not unlike the Platinum white. I have not had much difficulty keeping the leather clean and I did not purchase any leather protection. I have noticed if you wear denim there is some colour/dye that transfers to the leather. Using a good leather cleaner and conditioner regularly looks after these issues. You would need to look at whether the protection package contains any 'fine print' that excludes any types of "damage".

Hmmm. How often would you say you had to clean it? I also have a four year old daughter. Still think it would be a suitable option? Also just curious what exterior people would suggest. I am not sure between polar white, diamond white or brilliant blue. All with the night package. I have always loved blue cars. I like the white too but I'm afraid too many people will have white. But I still can't make up my mind...thoughts?

I would say that I probably clean the leather every couple of months but I do not have any young children (it's only the driver seat the needs attention). If you are really concerned about leather and spills, perhaps you need to consider MBtex. I had that in my GLK and it was very easy to look afte nr (no special treatment needed). The material does look very similar to leather (but it is no where near the feel of nappa leather).
I have chosen Diamond white for my last two vehicles and have not regretted it. My GLC43 will also be Diamond White. Colour is always a difficult choice and yes you do see lots of white cars (mostly non-metallic) but the diamond white looks great in the sun. If you like the blue, try to see it in an actual vehicle since seeing is believing. I also like lighter interiors - to me, black is just too dull/dark.

The designo nappa interior like this? It doesn't seem to have the diamond pattern though.

We had no choice but to cancel the upgraded interior. The issue was the MXP (which I believe is the leather dash) which is part of the package. So we couldn't have the interior (seats) without the MXP package, but there was no date on when MXP would be available on a GLC 300 (I believe he said the 43 can be ordered with MXP, therefore no delay). We went with the upgraded leather package and it saved about $5,000 so its not bad but my sister in law was disappointed because she was really excited about the Nappa Diamond leather. Oh well...
