Going with the General! Tire strategies.
Have an appt on Wednesday to remove the run flats from my new 2020 GLC 300.
I have never been a fan of run flats, and if you check the reviews for the Pirelli Verde, they are scathing! Aside from the rough ride, and sidewall failures, owners are reporting 10k miles lifespan.
The Pirelli’s are crazy expensive too. Over $350 a tire.
So the plan is to remove the OEM run flats, store them, use regular tires for the next few years, and when it’s time to return the car after the lease is up, pull the OEM's out of storage and put them back on.
In the long run that will save big money over buying new Verde’s every year, and will give me a better ride to boot.
Even though I have never used General Tires, this model is well rated by owners and won the TireRack comparison, so for $158/tire and an additional 10% Labor day discount, I’ll give them a try and report back.
One thing for sure is that they can’t be worse than the OEM tires in any category.

Had the new non-run flat tires put on today. The OEM run flats are in storage now. I could feel right away a reduction in the harshness over bumps vs the run flats, which is totally expected.
The cornering and overall handling feels just as good.

How have the AS-05s been treating you? How are they wearing, how is noise?

They are wearing great, but I always make sure the alignment of my cars is spot on.

My wife's 2020 glc300 has Continentals on it. They seem ok. We will ride them out until we have too change them.
I wouldn't change anything on a lease unless it was totally necessary.
