GLC 300
recently when I turn off engine it Goes to N instead of P

Recently parking brakes do not apply automatically when the car is shut off (I need to open the door)
I mean It should be changed to P as soon as I push the engine stop button instead when I turn off engine it Goes to N and after opening the door, it goes to P.
Recently I bought extra fuses and fill out all empty spaces in the fuse box, do you think this may be caused this problem?
please help me.

So you’re thinking the parking brake function on your GLC changed its behavior because a bunch of fuses fell out and disappeared?

I'm not sure I just saying, I really appreciate it if anyone with GLC300 2016 can verify this: when turning the car off transmission must go to P automatically without even open the door. not to N
(also in my fuse box there were lots of empty spaces I just fill them with new fuses. stupid thing to do, I know.... )

On my 2018 model the car only goes into park and applies the handbrake automatically if I turn the car off in hold mode.

Otherwise, it just goes into N - I then have to put it in park myself or open the door as you say.

Not sure about the fuses situation - but putting a fuse in an empty slot won’t supply power to anything.

Empty fuse slots usually still have one end that is live and connected to power, but the other end won’t actually be connected to anything and therefore wont be supplying power.

Still probably not a good idea to put fuses in empty slots...

Thanks for replying
I could remember when I push the engine button it automatically changes transmission from D to P before opening the door, Maybe it is some kind of option that I accidentally turned off,
I don't think GLC 2016 has hold mode.

My 250d is 2016.
It has hold mode.....ie press hard on brake pedal while at a stop and even if you then remove your foot from pedal the brakes stay engaged.
Mine does not and never did go to P automatically when I switch off.
Goes to P when I open door.
It used to also go to P when the passenger door was opened even before the car had come to a complete stop (which wasn't ideal!!) but the software has obviously been changed since and it doesn't do this now.

The act of opening the driver door (maybe others) is what puts it in P. If the car is off - then P and parking brake. Otherwise it's in N - which surprised me a few times as I was on an incline and still sitting in the car gathering up my stuff. So this seems normal behavior.

I agree. You have to put it in PARK before shutting off the engine. If it's in DRIVE and running and you open the door it goes to PARK. You'd put any car into park before shutting it off and this is no different.

Mine can be put in park before OR after shutting off engine.
