long term parking / battery drain

Hi:
I think I read somewhere, not sure where and I can't find again, that you can pull the start button to help reduce the battery drain. I have to park the car at the airport for three weeks and would hate to come back to a dead battery. Anybody know this is an actual fact?

There is a Standby mode option under Vehicle Settings which shuts down most electronics (eg. your Hermes LTE module used for sending data to the Cloud and interfacing with Mercedes Me Connect). You can use this to to help prolong the battery when you are parked for longer periods like three weeks in your case.

Not sure starting which year GLCs support this. I see this in the 2020 GLC manual for instance.

If your car supports Standby mode, do give it a try.

my 2c:
I was out of town for over a month last summer. No standby and no issues staring the engine. Mercedes connect is minimal power consumption and cannot drain the fully charged battery. And the good news is it will get turned off to save the power if needed.

If in doubt, can always leave it at home hooked up to trickle charger and use alternative way of transportation. And save on parking fee this way.

Hope this helps.

I usually leave it at home on a CTEK Charger but the airport is 90 miles away and at times the rides can be difficult to
arrange due to the time it takes. Have tried Uber but she almost killed us with her spaced out driving and poorly maintained vehicle. Never doing that again. Too scary. Also I can park at the airport for about half the cost of an Uber round trip. So parking at the airport it is.

Agree, Uber is not the safe choice.

My trip to the airport is about 120 miles and I simply rent a car (cost is about $100 total for two rentals).
No worries about parking, or any damage to my car....

Have you considered rental?

+1 on car rental if that works out.

For instance, our home is less than 7 miles from one of the SF bay area airports. If I need to fly out of any of the three big airports in the SF bay area, I rent the car the previous day from the airport nearest to my home (either my wife or friend drops me at the airport using another car), take the rental car to the airport. I do the reverse while returning back from the airport.

I have seen Uber/Lyft rates skyrocket to $150 for less than a 40-minute ride during peak office hours. My one way car rental is $40 and there is no charge for dropping the rental car at a different airport within the SF bay area.

I have a 2019 GLC 300 and left the car without doing anything mentioned above in my underground garage (with front and rear dashcams activated). When I came back after 2 months the car started like I never left it alone. So don't worry about it and enjoy your trip

I pulled the Keyless Go button. It seems to do nothing to stop the keyless capability (and hence I presume the battery drain associated with that). Double click on the key does stop keyless entry. What am I doing wrong with the "go" button? And yes, I waited several hours for all to die down before trying access
