Anyone have sound/heat insulated front side glass?

Coming back to the MB fold and will be ordering a GLC soon and wondering if anyone has this option. Do you notice a difference, do you think it is effective? Thanks in advance for any guidance!

If you mean the acoustic glass, yes, I have it. Dealer installed it under warranty after I complained about wind noise in my 2017 GLC 300. I noticed the difference immediately as soon as I started the car. It was significantly quieter just sitting in the dealer's lot, not to mention on the road. I highly recommend this option, even though you have to pay for it now..

That's good to know. Ordered it on ours (only $150) but don't have the vehicle yet.
Ordered it more for the Texas heat - that plus the ventilated seats.

I did the same as ChinaBob on my 2017. On my new 2020 delivered December 28, I ordered the "Thermal and Acoustic Protection Package", $150. The car is significantly quieter than the 2017 even after it had the door windows replaced with acoustic glass. Money well spent, highly recommended.

Yes, It was an option on my new 2020 GLC and it does make a difference. The noise on the highway is almost non-existent.

I did some highway driving in my 2020 over the weekend, and I DID notice the wind noise when traveling "at speed".

I do not have the acoustic glass option, so for the extra $150, I think it's a no-brainer.

The real no- brainer would be for Mercedes to address this known issue and deal with it appropriately rather than asking customers to pay to resolve it as an optional extra!!

Do you mean the dealership can add it to your vehicle later on? Is it like window tint?

Acoustic glass is typically made by sandwiching a vinyl layer in between two panes of glass. The vinyl layer acts as the sound and vibration deadener. My guess is that this cannot be added to normal glass, so the dealer would have to replace the non-acoustic glass with the acoustic. Unless someone knows something I don't.

ChinaBob said the dealership replaced it under warranty. So they replace the windshield and 2 front glass doors for acoustic glass? I’m just going to put ceramic window tint on the 2 front windows and clear on the windshield. Really don’t know why they don’t speck them out with it here in Las Vegas NV. Crazy!!

Your windscreen should already be acoustic glass, as far as I know all front screens are.
In Australia, we were not given the option for front driver or passenger acoustic on earlier models, not sure now.
Each glass panel has code and specs in them, Front windscreen should say Acoustic.. You can sometimes see the very fine centre filler on side windows at the top curve.
You should only have to worry about the sides.
Good luck.

For the 2020 model there's no reference to acoustic glass unless you get an AMG model. My 300 does not appear to have any acoustic glass.

Sure there is. I see the acoustic glass an an option on the Entertainment and Convenience page of the MBUSA website. So you can definitely order it here in the States on a non-AMG GLC.

Slight clarification - the dealership replaced just the glass in the front side doors with acoustic glass, not the windshield. My windshield does not appear to be acoustic, but that may be because I have Head Up Display, which itself requires different glass from the standard.

At least for the pre-refresh GLC's all those equipped with a HUD came with acoustic glass as standard for the front windshield.

Sorry, I was replying to Teckno's comment about Australia. In Aus you can't get it as an option anywhere I've seen, just as standard on the 63s.
