If you don’t have the line assist you can get it in passive mode, car wash mode, invigorating mode, ability to connect your car to a hotspot and many many many more.

 

As Eaton mentioned. Also a way to check is by checking if your car is able to display full screen navigation on the drivers screen. However there are some MBUX that have AR navigation and still can’t get the dash cam activated and all those can’t get full screen navigation on the driver’s screen. That is noticed mostly in Europe tho. No idea how or why. So if you can get full screen navigation on the driver’s screen then is a 100% sure you can get the dash cam.

Ordered a 2021 GLC 43 and one of the new options is a "dashcam". I wasn't able to find a lot of info. from MB but did find several after market dash cams with good write-ups. I doubt MB built their own, but was not able to find out the brand/type they adopted. I ordered the MB option for the GLC which should be here in December. I will let you know how it works once I get the opportunity to play with it. Car was built mid-Nov.,it's sitting in Germany waiting for a boat ride to USA.
Update 4/11/2021:
Got the GLC 43 in December, the dash cam option is not worth it! Hard to activate, need to drive/have ignition on before icon shows on screen, eventually the dash cam stopped working. The icon stopped appearing on screen. Had it to the dealer all day, they could not find answer. Want me to bring it back for several days so they can work with Germany to find the answer. At this point I'ed rather get my $200 back. I will update if any positive results. I do not recommend this option at this time, even though it was available in other countries for several years it is certainly not ready for prime time in the USA!
Update 5/23/21
Dealer had the car for a week and one day, all I got out of it was a car wash and a factory re-set so I had to set everything back up, phone, lighting, etc. I Still can't get the dashcam to work. Even if they do ever get it working MB USA said it will never be enabled to operate when the car is started. You will always have to manually begin the dashcam. I believe I'll begin asking for my $200 back and get a 3rd party dshcam.

Mercedes Makes a dash cam and it’s horrible however it works great with previous gen not on the current. 2021 cars have that option for $200 however you need to also add the premium package plus the multimidia package. That’s about 3k+ for those three options. However if you don’t add those two options I mentioned beside the dash cam you won’t be able to code it after cause then you won’t get the high end version of Mbux just the mid level. The dash cam option is fully integrated with Mbux. It used the one for augmented reality navigation and it works flawlessly.

 

Update! RJ does not currently have a code in place for either the dashcam activation let alone wireless carplay.

 

Yes he does. He said that in most can’t get it activated and some yes. He just doesn’t have one that will work 100% on all who ask.

He did mine. No issues. Dash cam functionality is 100%. When I asked him to do it he told me that it wouldn’t work on most car but he could try. He tried and it works.

 

I am glad to see that it might get resolved by a third party...

I did not feel like waiting so I just installed my BlackVue into the car, once I am done with the car, I can pull it out and move to the next vehicle.

also with the BlackVue I have front and rear camera setup, better than just the front that is available on the car

Mick, the link you sent shows RJ's coding options for A class cars. Your profile says you have a CLA 250, which is what I assume you enabled the dash cam on. This is a GLC forum - are you sure you're in the right place?

 

The videos are stored on a USB you provide.

RJ can code all cars, and most of the options are universal and will work on any model. Not just A & CLA.
