Tinting Heat and Noise Insulating Front-Side Dual-Pane Glass
Is it ok to tint the MB GLC 300 Heat and Noise Insulating Front-Side Dual-Pane Glass? I'd like to tint the front side windows & the rear side windows.
Thanks for your feedack.

You need to check with your local authority to get the exact rules, level of tint etc. In general, tinting the front windows is not legal but the rears are ok. There are also local rules on the allowable level of tint.

When bought stock, the front sides are never tinted. Not sure if they are US legal. The rear sides are usually OK, but I would still reccomend checking with the authorities.

I put Crystalline 70 on the front windshield and Crystalline 40 on the front side windows (optioned with acoustic glass). The window motors seem slow but they were like that before the tint. No issues, would immediately do it again with a purchase of another car. The car was completely comfortable on our recent 118 degree day out here in southern California.

hope that answers your question.
all the other answers given were if it’s legal or not, that you can check at your local police station, but it was not what you asked....

I have an associated question. I have a dark tint on our Acoustic side windows and really dislike it. It's no good for viewing Fall Colors, or seeing pedestrians at night.
Can a tint be removed from Acoustic glass? I understand that there is a coating that would be damaged by the tint, and especially if you remove it.

I don't know who did the tint, but I visited a local tint shop, and they said their industry doesn't get info on new model glass for about two years. Mine is the GLE450, so it's too new (who knew?) for them to say. He thought he could ID the tint product, but couldn't be sure until he started removal.

There is nothing on the outside of the glass that is different. The insulating glass is double layer with a film between, like a windshield, but the outside surfaces you will see are just glass. If you roll it down and look at the edge you can see the difference in construction compared to a single sheet of glass.

I do know this - whatever is there is polarized, with or without the tint. I don't know what part of the window polarizes it.

The film in the middle. Same with the windshields on cars that have it.

Use "non-Radio-Blocking-Tint" our newer MB's are getting to be pretty "tight" for clean cell signals - and some of the Ceramic tints will cut back your cell signal in-and-out..
