2020 GLC300 leak redish fluid- thoughts?

Noticed a redish colored fluid dripping out of the front of my wife’s 2020 GLC 300, car only has a few thousand miles on it...think it’s coolant, leak appears to be coming from drivers side closer to firewall and dripping out weep hole under engine pan...Anyone hear of this or thoughts of what it could be? Seems odd being so new. Thanks

Coolant is usually neon green. Brighter red typically transmission fluid, if more brownish could also be power steering or brake fluid. Either way I would not drive and have it checked out asap.

Looked closer under engine...Coolant reservoir in front left is definitely Red in color., the GLC and newer C both used electronic steering, so no fluid from that. Just surprised something would leak on a new car...anyone else see or hear of this issue?

No. It's definitely not normal. The new 2.0L is still fresh in it's production cycle, so there will be a few problems on the first cars, but this is still out of the ordinary. Why is the coolant red?

Taking it to the dealer tomorrow. The coolant in the overflow tank is pinkish red, I assume it’s a different fluid than the old school fluorescent green.

Hopefully just a loose hose or something minor. Let us know how it goes.

Seen plenty of new cars where a rock or something hits the radiator and causes a leak. But anything is possible, if you can't see the issue, take it to the dealer and have it fixed.

Coolant in MB cars is red/blue. Hasn't been green in years. Trans fluid is blue or gold if you have the 9 speed, 2018+. No power steering fluid in the electric power steeing system. Gotta update your color reference sheets my friend

Definitely coolant as the low coolant indicator came on while driving to the dealer this morning, so good to know the warnings is accurate and allows some time at least . I checked the level before I drove and it was just a little above the minimum in the overflow tank... Curious what they find, I noted the leak appears to be coming from drivers side closer to firewall. The service advisor wasn’t aware of any reported issues but I feel they don’t always check the TSB’s, maybe only techs do...Will report back...

GLC is still at the dealer, apparently one of plastic hose fittings cracked and caused the leak, they had to order the part. No TSB’s at this time. hopefully it’s just a fluke thing, but disappointed on initial quality.

Thanks for posting the cause.

Took the GLC back Monday after getting another coolant error over the weekend and a “break down” error on infotainment screen. Owners Manual said the error on dash was related to the fan, but seems to be working. However I don’t hear it run after shutting off the car as I did with our C300...So far I was told a bubble in coolant line caused the error (even though it was supposedly flushed fluid last time). So today they did an extended test drive, which I suggest to put some strain on the engine and the error came up for them at least. Shop foreman is supposed to look at it tomorrow. Hopefully they find the cause.

I never had to do one in a GLC, but in the C300 it was a very easy system to fill and bleed, I'd be surprised if it was just an air in the system issue, but i've seen it on other cars quite a bit. Vacuum filling should be standard now, most brands have a system that requires it.
