2021 GLC - to AMG package or not (tire size questions)

Trying to get thru all my questions so I can order this car. Mine will be 2wd. Went to the lot today resolve color choice and wheels/tires. Selenite gray won the color battle, but this thread defines the last issue.

235 18" tires to me seem a little narrow for the car.
AMG package (so the dealer tells me) requires staggered, with 255 in front and 285 in back.

So today on the lot we find a car with AMG wheels - 20" with 255's all the way around. (I checked it twice). Not staggered, rather square.
The sticker said '698 - 20" AMG Multispoke' and 'DG3 - AMG Line'

Does anyone know of a place to read up on what the GLC packages are? I cannot find anywhere to tell me what wheel and tire combos are possible. I think my ideal would be AMG w/Night Package and 19" 5 star wheels with 255 all the way around, but the dealer tells me that I have to accept staggered if I want AMG Night package.

I am hoping to find documentation on the options rather than to simply trust. Waiting 10+ weeks for a car and have it be wrong would be a lot to bear.

I am waiting on an ordered GLC300 Coupe. Having built the vehicle on line several times and familiarized myself with the packages (I base the following on the Canadian version https://www.mercedes-benz.ca/en/vehi...egory=exterior ), I have reviewed the features in each package and they align with what our sales rep. told us during our build at the dealership for the order. In the online build app, in order to get multi-spoke wheels, you need to opt in for either sport or night package. In the build app the packages enable you to click each feature for further details. Both the sport and night package describe the multi-spoke wheels as offset. However, having said that, I also ordered a set of MB OEM winter rims/tires with all four 235/55R 19. Also, I believe these vehicles are all 4Matic unless where you are there is a RWD/2WD available.
Good luck.

AMG 20” Y spoke is staggered setup. RZX is what you are looking for.

The 20's get 255 tires, the 19s and 18s get 235 tires. I don't know which ones are staggered.

Thanks guys for your input.

I don't think I should get 20" tires where I am. Dirt roads, rural roads in disrepair.... low profile tires aren't a great idea. 18 would be best.

I think 19" 235/xx should have enough sidewall in a square setup. Maybe 255/xx and 285/xx in a 19" staggered AMG Line setup would be ok too. What do you guys think?

2019 GLC 300 - Coupe
From when I was doing all of my research before buying my '19 Coupe - the staggered wheel set-up is a feature for Coupes only - and not found on the SUV - regardless if you get the AMG Line/Night Package.

It offers a more aggressive look to go with the Coupe body lines - even though there is not much else that differentiates the two - driving wise (outside of a tighter steering ratio on the Coupe from what I remember).

As for the note about 4-Matic and RWD/2WD - Canadians do not get the option of getting 2WD GLC's - we can only get 4-matic regardless of the spec (ie. 300 / 43 / 63). I guess they figure it doesnt make sense to have RWD with Canadian climates.

Our American friends get the option - as southerners dont really need 4-matic.

MY 20 SUV with 20” Y-spoke wheel has a staggered setup. I think they changed the offerings with the slight refresh.

New or pre-owned? Maybe GLK63AMG is correct.

new GLC300.

So I go this morning to confirm 19” AMG with staggered since I am pretty much ready to order. Now they’re saying AMG line is square and 235/55/19. This is why i do my homework. Seems I can always find something wrong with what I am being told.

now they say staggered possible only with 20” Y wheels.

thanks for all the conversation everyone. Hope my homework helps someone other than me.

My guy at the dealership we have purchased from him before. I remember his product knowledge to be better last time. Oh well.

I guess we're down to price now.

2019 GLC 300 - Coupe
A quick follow up on my comments regarding the staggered set up - as GLK63AMG pointed out that his '20 SUV has the staggered set up... My knowledge and comments were based on the '19 models and they must have surely changed the options.... The US Dealer guide for the '19 shows SUV only gets the even stance and Coupe gets the options staggered.

There are new wheel options for 20-21, maybe they changed the tire dimensions as well. I have the R31s on 235s, no issues here, enough grip for sure. Those fatter tires may eat up some econ.

I have seen some AMG line 2021’s not receiving drilled front rotors and plain calipers without Mercedes-Benz on them. Wonder if part shortages are to blame and just putting what is available on.

I thought AMG Line added the drilled rotors and painted calipers...
Maybe that too is related to the staggered tires bit.

Unless it's a 63 you really don't need drilled rotors.

Parts shortages. That's what it is. You were right...

Yeah the GLE AMG line also no longer has the drilled larger rotors for ‘21.
And yes, your dealer was telling you a bunch of bull. The only staggered setup on the GLC300 in the US is the AMG line, no night package, and the Y Spoke wheels. They are 285 rear and 255 front. The other 20 inch options (the one option on the non AMG package, the multi spoke, and the dark multispoke on the night) are all 255 square setup. The 19s are also always square, I believe also 255. The 18s are square 235.

Fair warning to you - if you get the staggered 20" setup you better had like run flats. I went to replace mine with standard all-season tires and no one makes them in both sizes. You can get Michelin summer tires or Pirelli winter tires, but absolutely no options exist for all-season non-run flats. I'm pretty pissed about it too, because the stock Goodyear Eagle run flats are total crap. It's like riding on rocks.

Come to think of it, maybe I should look into replacing the wheels with 18" or something. I'm that desperate to get rid of these run flats!

How many miles are you getting on your Goodyear eagle’s?

I have no idea. I hate them so much that I'm trying to dump them with only 2100 miles on the car. If I could find something to replace them with they'd be gone tomorrow.
