Thoughts after 1 year of ownership
Brought wife's car in for Service A and was given a very lightly optioned 2021 GLC300 as a loaner to compare to the 2020 GLC
Carplay: The newer GLC had ntg 80 and mine is still on Fresh Up 2 ntg 63 - Apple carplay doesn't start reliably but it was better on the updated car. Dealer said they're weren't able to update the car
Standard LED vs LED Matrix: Light brightness was about the same but the matrix lights are much more even and you get the swiveling as well as side light function. Porsche charges 3000+ for the same option, seems like a good value at 800, not necessary unless you live in a rural area
Noise insulating glass: Surprised at how much difference it makes. Much less wind/road noise above 60mph. The car should come standard with this
Burmester: Definitely more clarity and bass, however, my wife would not notice if it was not optioned
Digital multifunction display: Makes the car modern - personal preference though. You do get much more information displayed in comparison to the standard display

Yep drove the 2021 GLC and do like the digital displays and updated UI but can tell the dash was not designed for it. If you look in a GLB for example that looks the part.
The new engine when compared to my '18 seems to have a more linear power delivery. Mine has a bunch of mid range but dies off up top. It's a tuning change aside from the engine update.

Haha, I know the feeling. Something I have found at least with mine is it will not shift down to a low enough gear when needing to pass for example. I have tried different settings and no change. A full throttle down shift seems to want to shift down to a gear that brings revs to just over 3k. I would like a lower gear to bring revs higher but I am sure it's in the meat of torque at 3200rpm. Just odd, never had a vehicle downshift so conservatively.

Another powertrain improvement to the GLC 300 would be using the ZF8 trany as does BMW and several other manufacturers. Owning both the MB 9 speed and the ZF8 in a model year 2021, I can instantly feel the superior performance the the ZF8 has over the MB in house built 9 speed.

In your opinion. The Germans are option crazy with the vehicles they build. Why not a detuned version of the V6 they put in the GLC AMG 43 or even better a smooth straight 6 turbo like in the BMW?

Speaking of which, the W206 will lose my favorite thing about AMGs, the screaming V8.

I love I6s. Literally every one of my cars before my G70 manual and Mini and GLC had I6s. The S54 in my E46 is butter to 8000. But really, with tightening restriction, the switch is ongoing and you just have to live with it.

The S54 is the greatest BMW engine of all time, 3.2L I6 naturally aspirated.
The W206 is the 2022- C-Class. It will lose both the V6 in the C43 and the V8 in the C63 for an all 4 cylinder with some form of hybrid lineup.
Considering that, the next GLC will probably be 4 cyl only too.
