Blinking light on reverse

Blinking light on reverse
Hi there.
I always forget to get some help to check it so I'm stuck with the question :-)
Whenever I'm switching to reverse to back up into the garage I see on the 360 camera view that there is some blinking white light on the right side of the car (I also see the reflections on the wall). Unfortunately, when I activate parking brake and open the door, the car switches to neutral and stops blinking.
It's driving me nuts. What is this light and where is it located?

Hmmm, quick question, are you sure you aren't looking at the reverse light? I believe the car's backup camera captures an LED light different compared to our eyes. If you for example point your camera to the DRL at certain frames per second, it will be seen as it is flickering because LED lights aren't actually on all the time when in operation, it turns on and off rapidly.

It isn't supposed to blink but the refresh rate of the camera capturing the light makes it blinks, please see the post above.

No, it's a light on the right side of the car. From the inside (and from the 360 look) seems as if it should be positioned somewhere near right mirror. And it's not flickering. It's blinking like a sonar beep.

I see, sounds like the puddle light (in the right side mirror) or the exterior door handle light. However it shouldn't be blinking though.

It seems that it's indeed the light bulb situated on the bottom of the right side mirror. But what's the point of that??? To scare off the frogs?

It has multiple purposes : ) For example to see puddles after a rainstorm so you don't step on it when entering the vehicle.

but... hmmm.. we haven't figure out the mystery of why it blinks though, could it be because of the differences of FPS of the camera I mentioned earlier? The puddle lights (plural) should be on both side mirrors, so I wonder why you don't notice a white light on the left side as well.

And no, as I wrote before - it's not filckering. The frequency is around 1Hz, maybe less.
It looks like this:
And it seems it's only on the right side (the picture is mirrored because it's from the front phone cam).

I see. My bad forgot you mentioned that. My car (C-Class sedan not GLC though) doesn't do that so I am not quite sure why yours is doing that unless it is a feature if so I don't quite understand the purpose of that either. Do you want to take it to your dealership to have them look at?

That too. But come to thing of it, even with constant light, the puddle light in the mirror has limited sense. True, it can illuminate surroundings if you're approaching the car from outside but if you want to get out of the car and open the door, the light is shadowed by the door so you step out into the dark anyway.

That being said, the GLC is much higher than the C-Class sedan so that might be the reason why the light is way scattered on your car, that explains why our experience with it is completely different. : )

OK. So now I'm lost completely.
I don't know exactly when but it turns out the light stopped turning on. It no longer blinks on its own. I pull into the garage - nothing. I drive out of the garage - nothing. As you could see on the recording, it was enough that I entered the car and started the engine - the light would start blinking. Now - nothing.
I'll have to ask at the shop - I have to schedule a maintenance in a month or so anyway. But, honestly, I doubt they'll be of much use here.

Edit: Neverminded forgot you mentioned you are scheduled for a routine maintenance so ya I guess get it replaced on your next service visit, while you are at it, check your left mirror puddle light as well and also tell them to check the light bulbs under the door handles.
