16 GLC 300 steering command change.. Help please
I've changed out a few clock springs and steering command's in the past. One of my wife's friends asked me if I could change hers after a $1900 quote for a 600 buck part and 20 minutes or so of work. So I said sure.. Changed it out to the new one, assembled it, but before lock tighting the bolt, I hooked up the air bag, every thing was good I turned the wheel back straight so I could re alight the wheels with the steering wheel. When that was completed I took out the airbag, started tightning up the bolt, before I popped the airbag back in, i just plug it in to the steering command. to make sure all was well, turned the wheel a few times, everything was straight, after a couple back and forth turns, the slip light and collision inop lights came on. Could this be due to the wheel not being straight? Do I need to do an angel sensor reset? I thought maybe i broke the new steering command, but the problem, continued after i installed the old one back in. I am hoping i just didnt alight it back right. Is there anyone who can chime in on this please??

Gotta be someone who can help me with this issue. No cel to try and find out what is going on either. But everything is working outside of these issues. The controls in the wheel were not working, as well as the airbag light being on. Now everything is working, but the airbag light still on and the collision prevention assist plus inoperative. What else can i check??

I wish there was. In this mode you cannot change out just the clock spring. You have to change out the whole steering column command module. It's the part that has the cruise control, tilt, head lights, tilt wheel adjust and whipers in it.

It does appear that I need a computer to reset the airbag light and to calibrate the steering angle sensor as you just can't turn the wheel back stop to stop to calibrate on this model. I have a computer coming next week so hopefully this takes care of it.
