"Check Washer Fluid" warning after refill??? 2020 GLC

Does anyone have the same issue? even after refill, the warning message still shows "Check Washer Fluid"

Someone says that it is about the fluid. I am using Reflex. If that is the case, what washer fluid should be used? in Ontario winter

send to the dealer for a quick check. They confirmed it is the washer issue. Told me that I could put two tablespoons of table salt into the washer fluid.

Have not tried that yet, but I think it would work.

Are they saying that it is not reading that type of fluid properly? so we should really be buying MB fluid?

Some washer fluid likes to mess with MB's sensors, rain-x (some of them) comes to mind. Otherwise the MB vehicles have no problem with other washer fluids. I never personally tried Reflex that OP posted though. OP, is Reflex from crappy tire if I recalled correctly? You could try something else like the Laurentide -45°C, other than having a strong odour I never had an issue with it. That being said, your dealership confirmed the sensor isn't faulty/defective right?

If you really like to go OEM, you may. Here are the part numbers: Summerfit Windshield Washer Concentrate A0019867117 and Winterfit Windshield Washer Concentrate A0019864571

Ya only problem though, I couldn't find the actual brand online other than the name resembles a region in Québec, I wonder if it is produced there?

Honestly, most MBs accept most washer fluids, there are only the ones that likes to mess with MB's sensors like I mentioned previously is what you should be concerned about. You really don't have to get their own fluid.

I think the reason is explained here:

It seems not only MB but also BMW or other German cars have the same type of sensor.

My point is it could be a real safety issue. What happened to me was that I had 1000km + 400km ski trips within a few days. That sensor really messed up and it was out of fluid totally at the end on the way back home. It was pretty dangerous as icing rain and dirty snow weather driving on the highway at night.

If specific washer fluid is needed, it should be labeled like "MB Approved" or something like that. It is a real safety issue here.

I see where you are coming from with this, I guess approved in a way just like engine oil as well. I don't know if it is feasible. Technically, the MB OEM one is approved so they want you to buy that instead.

If the dealer recommended adding some kitchen salt, it means MB uses an ionic conductivity-based washer fluid-level sensor. The added salt makes the fluid ionically conductive, but pure water/glycol/(m)ethanol mixtures have a very low conductivity and may not be detected by the sensor. Just a WAG...

Found this link that could help.

http://www.mersuv.com/mbread-884.html.

Do not add distilled or de-ionised water to washer fluid container. Level sensor may be damaged……

It is a bit too much to premix washer fluid. Not sure elsewhere, but in Canada, ppl just use premix for winter, even the dealership.

I have a 2017 GLC 300 and also used the same Reflex washer fluid and got the "check washer fluid" message. Added 2 tbsp table salt and the message also went away! I just did this last night and this morning when driving to work, message gone!

Its function is not only freeze protection, but corrosion resistance. 'Not adding' the prescribed coolant can void the warranty.

Also added salt (recent post) can void the warranty, because it's corrosive on its own.

I bought the Mercedes winter fit and it said to dilute with water. I did and I’m getting the message too. This is bananas.

It's best to flush your system and get that corrosive stuff out of the system. Warranty killing or not, it eats expensive stuff.

The salt just proved that your antifreeze was too diluted.
