I had a credit on my 21 GLC300 for augmented reality/dash cam, because the chip shortage meant it couldn't be installed.

I pretty much knew everything I couldn't get as I was ordering. Funny thing, the only thing I ordered that I didn't get was the rear spoiler! Wife said she prefers it without anyway.

It means Missing Hands Free Access. That's the motion sensor for the trunk opening feature.

oh, I did think that I ordered that; so they couldn't provide it, didn't charge me for it, and also gave me a $100 credit for my trouble?

It looks like it was part of the Premium Package, and the credit is to offset the cost of that missing feature.
Hands Free Access will be back in Q3 2022 production onwards, though.

Will they be able to add it then?

As in a retrofit? I'm not sure - ask your dealer about it if you really want it.
Maybe RJ can help too.

On the coupes and AMG models, it's a standard feature. You didn't order it - it just is standard. But there's an extreme shortage of both hardware and software for the kick to open trunk feature, so aside from a few early 2022 GLBs, S Classes up until very recently, and the GLEs and GLSs, essentially no 2022 MBs have this feature. Vehicles where it's standard get D9B: Credit for Missing Standard HANDS FREE ACCESS (CREDIT covers up the HANDS_ on the build sheet) and get a $100 credit, because that's what the feature would cost if it were an option. On vehicles where it's part of a premium package, including A220, CLA250, GLA250, GLB250, E350 and E450 sedan and all terrain, and GLC300 SUV, those vehicles are equipped with a "Premium Package Lite" that is $100 less then the regular Premium Package and don't have the Hands Free Access.

So you still have the power trunk, you just can't kick to open/close it.

Hope that clears things up!

P.S. some vehicles get built with the hardware but not the software, which I've seen on S Classes while they were transitioning to no hands free access and early built 2022 C Classes, and get code D6M Hands Free Access non opperational, also $-100 credit. They may be available for retrofit later, vehicles with D9B are not.

My build sheet doesn't show the - $100 credit, I have the DF9 Premium lite package, but it doesn't list the hands free option, do you think it will have it?

No, you won't have it unfortunately.
