Park brakes. Car turns them all every time.

Hi all,
My GLC turns on parking brakes every time I park. Is there a way to turn it off and let me decide when.

I don't think there is a way. Is it causing an issue?

I think it doesn't but sometime pads sticks to rotors if it stays for a few days, I always forget to release parking brakes.

There may be a way to code it out. I'll look on mine and see if there an option for this but I think its a failsafe especially with sloped conditions. I'm not sure if the transmission gearing holds the car in place good enough to not have it turned on automatically?

The parking pawl is stronger than you think and park automatically engages with door open as well when engine is running.

Mine releases when I put it in drive and step on the gas. Nothing to remember.

My 2024 and dozens if not hundreds on MB owners have the sticking parking brake. When I complained to the dealer that it happened after a car wash, they told to ride around for a while to dry out the brakes. I have that in writing. They failed to mention if I need to ride around after the rain stops. There are 2 parking brakes. The electrotonic one engages a rotor and it sticks if it gets wet. The other is a traditional parking pawl on the driveline. So when I get the car washed and return to my garage, with the engine running I put the transmission into Park. The I pull the parking brake release handle out and hold it out while I shut off the car. I then release the handle. It will not reengage when I open the door. You will know it worked when you take your foot off the brake. The car will roll a little bit till the parking pawl engages the driveline. It happened once on my wife's 2023 GLE after returning from the car wash. Here's a video I made a while back of how badly it sticks. PS this fix is not my idea. Another member here suggested it.

Yes I do (did) the little dance after a car wash, keep the brake pads from rusting to the disc.
That little dance involved a sequence of releasing the parking brake before shutting off the engine, and it took some practice to get it right.

My solution now, instead of all those gyrations, is to have the brakes fully warmed up prior to going to the car wash. (It also gives me the chance to have a little fun during what would otherwise be a mundane drive!)
It's very similar to my off-roading practice before fording streams, so I still have brakes after soaking them. Heat them up and they'll dry.

You don't really need to drive around after a rain, because your brakes are already warm and won't have that issue.

At least that's my experience.
