Best All-Season Tire for GLC 4Matic

I am going to replace the Pirelli Run Flats that came on my GLC with Non run flat All-Season Tires. The GLC will not go to the snow, mostly dry and wet climate here in Northen Cali. Well, super wet this year for sure. 😊

What is the best tire out there? What have you guys used? I read a lot about the Michelin Cross-Climate 2, but cannot get used to the treat pattern on this tire, looks pretty weird to me. Anyone have a picture showing this tire installed on a GLC and what it looks like.

What are other favorable tires for our vehicle?

Thanks in advance.

I would look for A/S UHP tires instead of Cross Climate 2 which is all weather tire, more geared for winter/snow performance...

I replaced the run-flats with Michelin Defender 2's. Great ride, quiet, and excellent in the rain.

Testing Standard Touring All-Season Tires 2022:

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=294

Michelin Defender2(Standard Touring All-Season, 205/55R16 91H)
  • What We Liked: Its expertly tuned damping and steering on the street.
  • What We'd Improve: A significant increase in wet traction would be nice.
  • Conclusion: It's a capable tire that might not focus on ultimate wet grip.

I saw this prior to purchasing the Defender 2's, but a friend had them on his X3 and he had no complaints regarding wet performance. I also have not had any issues with them in the rain.

Another vote for Michelin Defenders. 4 years 35k miles on my GLC superb tire will be replacing them in the summer with same tire.

So how many miles are you anticipating on Defenders and how much tread left when you will replace?

Have 5/32 tread left could get another 5k miles. I’ll be happy with 40k miles on these tires. Always had them aired to 33 psi never a flat with them. There an XL tire very strong excellent confidence in them felt very safe with family especially with the rain So Cal has had here lately and there quiet too. And 5 years is a good amount of life for a tire. Don’t want tires more than 5 years old on my cars no matter what mileage or tread life is.

Thank you all very much for your input.

I agree with the statement of not having tires for longer than 5 years, regardless of miles.

I will go with the Michelin Defenders LTX M+S, as they were recommended by my “go to” tire shop and based on your guys’ recommendations as well.

Again, many thanks.

I just got our crossclimate2 on last week. So far, great but a long way from a review worth doing.

For an 80K/6yr warranty tire, this is an underperformance based on wear. You should be 6/32 under ideal situations. Maybe an alignment is needed.

Installed the Michelin Defender LTX M+S this weekend and so far so good. (Of course, way too early to tell, but one can definitely feel the improved ride compared to the run flat Pirelli's)
