Oil Change Reset

If you change the oil yourself on a 2022 GLC 300 you will not be able to re-set the service message that pops up every time you get in your car. Shame on Mercedes for making a car this way. Its been one problem after another with this car and I'll never buy another one. Period. The best or nothing my ***.

Did you try this? If not, there are too many cheap OBDII reader and mobil apps to reset it.

Yes I tried that and it does not work on the newer model GLC300's. The dealer said they would have to drain the oil out of my car and do a scheduled oil change in order to reset the counter. So the message will come up every time no matter what. I will look into the obd ii readers. I have no idea what that is or if it will work. Absolute joke of a brand i know that for sure. This is my 3rd problem in less than a year which means about 6 trips to the service shop and countless phone calls. If corporate mercedes is reading this, your cars are nothing but problems and a absolute joke.

I think your dealer isn't very good to you. The way they handled the steering wheel vibration and now with the oil maintenance reset have pit you against MB. I understand that a dealer is a component of the total experience. It's certainly unfortunate but not a surprise that bad dealers exist among every manufacturer. The steering wheel issue was a design problem that MB corporate fixed. The oil reset sounds like a learning process. I reset mine with a mid-grade scan tool but have done it other ways too. Oil reset isn't known to be a design issue but you may think it is because it is for you. Many other vehicles have similar oil maintenance reset procedures so you'll need to learn somebody's sooner or later if you don't have the dealer to it. Problem goes back to the negative dealer experience and the next one is 40 miles away which you're opposed to going to. I'd make the drive and try them out as long as they're not owner by the same people/company.

I can't believe I have to ask this but can you please send the steps you used to re-set it then? I have tried to put the car in park and then hold down the silver return button while the icon is hovering over "TRIP" and then pressing the middle black button. It does not work. I have also tried to hold the two silver buttons down for 5 seconds while in park and on the trip display and that also does not work.

If yours worked I would love to know the steps.

Thanks

Yes I believe the dealership is not very good/helpful but how did I buy a "new" car and there's a steering wheel shake and the driver side door is all out of whack to the degree it sounds like my window is open. The air noise was so bad. How is that possible from the manufacturer or the dealership? It is simply not acceptable in my book. Shame on Mercedes for allowing this to happen. The fact that I had to make 3 separate trips to the dealership to fix these issues is beyond ridiculous too. Now the oil reset has to be done by the dealership so I cant even reset it without their computers. I mean it's just one thing after another and I will never buy another Mercedes now. They are horrible. Once they lose my trust it's over. I want them to fail now and I loved Mercedes before all of this crap.

Watch the video again carefully. The car should not be running, foot off the brake the whole tome, push start button 1 time, hold down the left silver button 5 sec. then while still holding button push black button 1 time and menu should appear. If not, just do it again and follow the rest of the menus.

I can confirm this process works on GLC AND C class. I've also done it several times on other Mercs with that steering wheel.

I have tried this multiple times and it does not work on my car. Something must be different on my car and yours. It does not work and when I called the dealership they told me the only way to reset it is by computer.

Thank you.

When you follow the video, which step do you not get past?

I can turn the car off. I can press the start button once to turn on the display. I can get the dashboard icon to hover over the trip display. I can hold down the left silver button for 5 seconds and then press the middle black button. Nothing will happen when I do that.

Try hold, simultaneously, the black button AND the button to the left for 7 seconds. Let go. Immediately press the home button (to the right of the black button) once and let go. Use the black button and scroll the menu to the far left and stop on the Workshop icon. Press and release the black button. Scroll down to Assist plus. Does that work?

You're continuing to hold the left silver button WHILE you push the middle black button, correct? Meaning, hold the silver for 5 seconds, then use another finger to push the black button, while still holding the silver. Once menu pops up, then you can let go of both.

That's correct. It does not work. I had a person tell me they knew how to reset it this weekend so I said go ahead and try. They swore they could reset it and they also failed. It does not let you do it on the newer models in America.

I'm just going to throw this out there because I recently struggled with the reset problem on a 2018 C238 (E400 Coupe), Make sure you hold the "Back" button alone for a couple of seconds before additionally pressing the scrolling pad. I was simply pushing the Back button first and it wasn't working. You have to press the Back button alone for 2 seconds or so before you add the scroll button. Might be worth a try for you.

Question 2019 GLC 300 4matic resetting Oil Life

Hello all,
I am having the same issues I can't figure out how to reset the oil life. I watched a few you tube video's and have held the phone button and the OK button on the wheel for 5 seconds and it takes me to "Assyst plus" but in the videos it allows them to select that a full service was done and on mine it just says that the services is overdue by 5000 miles. I bought a Launch Creader Elite V2.0 -BN for $170 on Amazon cause the reviews were great and it said that it can reset the oil life and update the BMS system( I bought a 94r Agm battery at Costco) and want to change it but I heard that the "BMS" system needs to be told it has a new battery. Can any one make a youtube video and send me the link or tell me the steps here to do both?

Thanks,
Josh
